Psht!... don't encourage!
There are a lot of ways; none of them easy.
IMO, knowing that you have a problem is a necessary, but insufficient step. You have to really want something. Either you want to avoid some of the negatives, or you have to really want something that you can't have if you continue to drink. Over time, I made a pretty large list of negatives, but it was realizing that I was missing out on a couple really big positives that made the difference.
starmole, can I just say how much I love your puppy picture? I do. A lot
Gives me a good giggle every time I see it.
*wine corks in ears* LALALALALA. I'M NOT LISTENING.
*steps very carefully into thread*
Is your primary concern calories, or the possibility that you have a drinking problem?
Because if it's the former, then you need to do some soul searching and see if you can honestly admit to the latter.
Then call AA.
Best of luck to you.
Stepping carefully also.
Stopped after 40 years. Never needed an excuse to drink. The last 2 years was drinking a gallon of vodka per week.
Stopped on my own, no AA, no Betty Ford. As far as I'm concerned, they are crutches.
What type of personality are you? Do you start things and not finish, does your mind allow you to quit if things get tough? Look at, and be honest with yourself, your past performances in any en-devours you have undertaken. If quitting is what you do then quitting drinking you wont do.
If however, you are the type to not stop doing something once you start, until it is completed. Then you have a chance....
Everyone has it within themselves to do what needs to be done. You have to find that person within you and let him/her take over.
Thank you! Last time I put it up, someone said it was horrible, but I'm leaving it up for a week or two. I like it.
Stay away from the pubs and the bars, and say NO to parties. I used to party hard and drink so much every day but you gotta learn to say no to friends sometimes. Sure I lost a few of my hard-partying friends but meh, I feel better now health-wise for it. (And lost like 10 pounds almost immediately!) Alcohol has so many calories and it's so easy to overdo it.
