Who has experience with SAP?

Quote  |  Reply

I have a phone interview on Monday, the job is a SAP trainer, I have training experience just not in SAP, just wondering if anyone could tell me how hard it is to learn or anything else I should know.

Thanks!

I use SAP, have been on it for 2 years.  It is a very good system but very complex, it can do everything or nothing depending on how or what you ask it and is completely customisable so every company uses SAP in a different way and it's not all that user friendly.

If you have never used SAP before I'm not sure that a trainers job would be all that suitable, although on the other hand, once you get your head around it it really is very very good and makes your office life a lot easier, its also a very safe system, every keystroke is tracked, you can always see who did what and it doesn't let you execute things that will cause problems in other areas.

If you are technically minded and aren't scared of pressing buttons to find out what happens then you'll be ok.  :o)

I've used SAP for 2 companies. I've been on SAP currently for about 1 1/2 years. I actually got this job because I had been on SAP in the past and they knew I wouldn't be totally floored with their system.

SAP stands for SORRY ASS PROGRAM. It is horrible for the users. The help key is no help. Nothing is user friendly. Nothing is intuitive. You must go through tons of steps for every single function.

Everything you do in SAP basically calls for the user to memorize steps or screens. An example of what it's like to move around in SAP: It's kind of like a big city that has a couple of interstates intersecting it as well as a couple of outerbelts and all of them are under construction. You just can't get there from hear.

If you're a good trainer, you can probably pick it up fairly easy. You won't be training people in SAP the way you would in any other program you've ever seen.

SAP may be very good for tracking and for the corporation. It is the worst program for users I've ever been on. It will remind you of some of the old dos based systems. Actually I rather go back to an old dos based system than use SAP.

my husband had to work with SAP before. he called Satan's Accounting Program. definitely not user friendly on the the input side, but i've heard it's great for the accountants who only have to click one button to pull up any report.

 Satan's Accounting Program.

LOL. I just told my co-workers that one and they all laughed and agreed.

I agree - not so user friendly.  You need to know the specifics to be entered into the fields for it to give you what you want.  And depending on the way the system was customized for the company, a lot of the inputs are a combination of numbers and letters that don't seem to be associated with the function, so it can be difficult to remember them.  Its a powerful program though, if both the user and the company know how to use it to its full potential.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
