which weighs more a pound of feathers or a pound of bricks?
a pound is a pound no matter what it is, although I wonder if it would've been more relevant to say a pound of fat or a pound of muscle :D
In terms of physics, I think the question about the tree falling in the forest actually can be answered. If there is literally no one (including insects, animals, humans, etc.) to receive the vibrations in the air that are caused when the tree falls down, then it doesn't make a sound. Sound is produced when disturbances in the air meet with ear drums and send a signal to the brain. Otherwise, the air simply moves..
xD Sorry for the lame rant; incidentally our choir was having a discussion about this topic with our instructor, and he won with this argument.
I guess I'll contribute a riddle:
(Answer: unscramble the first letters of the bolded words in this message.)
dream

This thing all things devours:
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down.
A team made up of a geneticist, philosopher and chicken farmer claim to have found an answer. It was the egg.
Put simply, the reason is down to the fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life.
Therefore the first bird that evolved into what we would call a chicken, probably in prehistoric times, must have first existed as an embryo inside an egg.
