Why are girls so bad at video games?

Quote  |  Reply

I'm not talking Barbie doll dress up either, I'm talking fricken Halo, Call of Duty...you get where I'm going here. And before you nerd rage on me, I'm saying *MOST* girls, sure their may be a few who are actually good...but I have yet to meet one.

Man, oh man, do I love video games...but why do I have to suck so bad? A bunch of my friend's dormies(mostly guys) and I got together and played some Halo and seriously...90% of the time I'm dead. It's not like this is my first time playing either, I play it a lot in my spare time.

Is there some psychological reason we girls are so bad at them? I would die to just come close to first place on the # of kills screen one of these days and not last!!@#! =[ I'm so tired of being a sore looooserrrr.

...Nerd Rage Out.

I do just fine. Most guys refer to me as a he anyway... maybe that's the secret. :o

Maybe you're trying too hard? The more you play the better you get.

Practice makes perfect.

Also, it's partially due to an evolutionary quirk. Men were the big, tough hunters and had to maneuver quickly to get the kill- quick reflexes and all that. Women were the gatherers and- well, have you ever seen a blackberry bush move?

But again, practice makes perfect with anything. Take into consideration most of the 'Dormies' probably do NOTHING ELSE but play video games- especially addicting ones like Halo. Please refer to the chart of a Gamer's Skill Level and Pallid Skin... there is a correlation, haha.

I know I waste most of my free time playing video games, sad thing is I'm better than my SO when it comes to games like ME, COD, L4D, Bad Company and the like, but he can beat me at games like Cooking Mama and Dance Dance Revolution.

Pitiful, really.

In short, girls are just built all wrong.

I beat my male friends in games a lot, and I have a lot of chick friends who are really good too. *Most* girls are bad at it because they don't play them or care to. I dunno why you suck.

I'm terrible at video games

because intelligent, independent-minded people are harder to brainwash.

I'm rather good at video games, especially first person shooters like Call of Duty and Counterstrike: Source. Gaming is something I've done since I was little and want to base my career around, art wise.

There are plenty of females who are rather good at games and like someone said, it takes practice.

The sour grapes of the genetically inferior.  Don't take it too hard, it's evolution's fault, not yours.

Now...that is TRUE, lmao. And I thought I had no life!! Even when I play I get all shakey ugh when I've been playing for forever now. ._. If I play hardcore nonstop like they do, I still don't see me beating them...I mean, gah they got skillz, natural skillz that no other could ever imagine to be so blessed with!

Hopefully one day I get better, and preferably not when I'm 90 and end up falling over from shaking so much trying to beat these guys and end up croaking. Although, that would be a pretty cool way to die, I confess...that's the new way I want to hit the death bed. No longer a roller coaster. It'd be a great story to tell the grand children. ;]

i can think of a lot of other things you could aspire to.  just sayin'.

I kick ass at combat and strategy. My fatal flaw is navigation. I go in circles forever sometimes before I can move on...I'm terrible at directions. And by the time I remember that most games have maps of an area, I've already gotten myself straightened out. :/

Then again, I haven't done much gaming since I was 12. Occasionally, I'll play with friends if I have nothing else to do. I just don't find it that interesting for very long.

The last game that I played to completion and didn't get bored with it was Final Fantasy VIII...when it first came out.

I don't know about other people, but my main reason for sucking at those games is they make me sick.  I can't handle FPSs at all; I can't even watch them.

I do know quite a few women, based on comments, that are pretty good at them, but I also just got done with a BFA from a school that's known for games so I was kind of among the uber-geek crowd.

I prefer RPGs because I like planning the best combos and strategy, but I also love the occasional SHUMP as well.  I think a lot of skill in games comes from practice, but also how you react to the competition.   I prefer to play games for fun, so when people get super competitive about them, they start losing that aspect for me and I lose interest.

Do you play with other people in your spare time?  Playing against a computer, and playing against another thinking human is totally different, so you may not be getting the type of practice you need for a group melee.

Probably because it's not the type of game you'd enjoy. Try another type. Start with something like Tekken or GT and build up the gamer in you, then you can shift to adventure. Even in games girls are just picky. Pick something you actually like, and you'll ace it :D

or not.

edit: d'you think there's a correlation between girls who are good at video games and girls who are fat?  do ya?  really?  do ya think you'd rather be on the other side of that equation?  maybe?  doyathink?

come on.  please.  stop being a **** avatar and go outside.

I've spent alot of time around women who are really good at video games, beachyball, so I question your assumption that girls aren't good at so-called real video games (Halo, et. al.)

I also think the assumption that it's only guys playing video games isn't really particularly valid anymore. Plenty of women play, and I'm not just talking about the Sims.

I concur with the users above, keep playing, keep practicing. With games like Halo, it's all about hand-eye coordination anyways, so the more you play, the better you'll get.

I'd rather read a book

You speaking from experience here, PG?

What games do you play?

for the record, i did my time.  i played three FPRPGs through.  and i liked it.  and i didn't like what it did to my real life.  done with that (a long time ago).

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
