Every time you start a juice fast.

Amen!

Is it weird that I actually LIKE beet and carrot juice?! haha! no fasting for me though!

I just actually LOLed.  Thanks Smashley ! :D

I like beet and carrot juice too, I juice everyday, but I eat food too!

I had juice smoothie for breakfast, but I plan on eating reall food the rest of the day, not fasting for me, other than medical reasons. (ie tests etc..)

Unless you count the dental work diet I've been on for the last week, where you only eat food in small bites that require a minimum of chewing. But I'm getting back to actually chewign again/

lol!

A juice fast is an oxymoron.

The amount of calories in juice is ridiculous, in fact if you drank 8 tall glasses of juice (one glass every two hours) you'd be pushing 1600 calories... It's basically sugar, water and a vitamin (and you wont even process the excess vitamin).

If you want to fast, then fast. Zero calories for a specified period of time. There's been a lot of published research on it since World War II and it can be very beneficial in short bursts (14 to 72 hours).

If you're like me and fall asleep trying to read the stuff on pubmed, there are authors who make the information more approachable if you want understand how to do it and why it works.

A few weeks ago, just for kicks, I did a 3 day all-green juice thing.

I wasn't trying to lose weight, I just saw "fat, sick and nearly dead" and got overly inspired.

That film was really good!

I bought a fancy juicer, and have been trying to do a glass or so a day just to cram more green vegetables in there when I'm tired of eating them.

It's fun to make it.

Yeah, I think most people who do them for non-weight-related reasons do them for one day.

And you're supposed to juice your own fruits and vegetables, not crack open the Juicy Juice.

If you have a juicer, and can tolerate drinking vegetable juice, it's actually like giving your liver a spa day.

That documentary made me want to juice as well.  I don't go on a "juice fast" or anything, but every now and again I'll make it for a snack or breakfast.  It can be really good and refreshing.

I saw that movie too but I really don't think the changes are due to the juicing completely. A dramatic drop in weight will have major benefits for your health. I do however, question if this is the best way to do it. further, actually eating, rather than juicing, the vegetables and fruits doesn't seem like such a bad idea to me.
