Everyone loses some. I lose a ton.

Seriously, I take a shower, I lose a handful, I find my hair all over the freakin' place. I look on my sleeve--oop, loose hair. My pillow in the morning, hairs. I take a hair-tye out, guess what? Hairs. It's a little ridiculous, I feel.

There was a time when a combo of stress and unhealthy habits caused my hair to thin and look like ****, but that was a while ago. Nowadays, my hair is as thick as it ever was (eyebrows never quite recovered, though). Maybe that's why I'm constantly shedding? I've got moderately thick hair and the individual strands are thick and heavy. :/

Anyone else victim of hair that keeps jumping ship?

I lose a ton too. I've lost a ton since I was little so I just assumed that's how it is. I have thick, wavy, annoying hair.

Heh, I just love when a guy runs his hand through my hair and...yeah. No matter how much I brush before a date or whatever...yeah.

Stupid hair! Y U NO want us to get laid?!

a lot.  i straighten my hair daily, too...so you can imagine my bathroom carpet floor.

And the sink. How the hell so much hair collects in the sink in 20 minutes is beyond me.

I lose about as much as my bestie has on her whole head, over the course of a week.  I wish I was exaggerating.

If you took a normal hair elastic and wrapped it about 6 or 7 times around, that little pinkie sized circle is about how much I lose in a day.  We kept track once.

My hair used to fall out like crazy so I started using a much higher quality shampoo and cream rinse, Nioxin is my brand. I also increased my fat to about 50 g per day and make sure I have ground flax in my breakfast smoothies and a serving of nuts every day. Now I lose maybe a dozen strands a day. My individual hairs themselves are very fine, but I have lots of them falling to below my shoulders in big thick waves.

I have very thin hair.  When I was restricting, I would pull out handfuls and handfuls and handfuls... It was horrible.  Now that I'm eating, my hair has decided to stay in my head.  Thank goodness.  I'd prefer to not be bald, thank you.

ETA: I envy everyone who is bragging about their thick hair :p

How are your iron levels? My hair fell out like crazy when I was anemic, then went back to normal once my iron levels were back to normal.

Hmm... I only really see my hair coming off when I take off my hair band, but still only get like 3-4. Although when I take a shower, a lot comes off. Probably 30 or more strands. My hair is thick and long (like most of you apparently xD) and seems to retain my hair pretty well throughout the day.

I did read a long time ago that the average lost for people a day is 100 strands... so maybe losing that much is a normal thing lol

LadyRider was losing lots of hair and I found them every where. She started using Nioxin and now I'm not finding much hair in the sink, bed, tub etc.

As for me, sure I'm losing hair but since I've been keeping my hair short for many years, it's hard to tell.

i have a lot of thick hair and it clogs the shower at least once a week, even with those little hair catcher thingys.  i brush my hair and i lose hair.  just when my hair is down, it's all over my clothes.  my hair ties have tangles of hair all over them.

it's kinda gross, lol.

I have thin hair, not anorexic but I lose a handful everyday.

I have super thick hair and I lose tons... in the shower, in my brush, in the flat iron, when I run my hand through it... it's everywhere. And it doesn't get any thinner - it's just thick, curly and sheds excessively.

I have thick and curly hair, I lose hair everywhere all the time. Some people just shed way more than other people and I'm one of them. Sometimes it just happens. I wouldn't freak out until you find bald patches but lets hope that never happens.

Seems like most thick-haired people deal with this. I suppose that we're very fortunate, but like someone else said...it's kinda gross. :P

We've had to unclog the drains numerous times and it's no question as to whose hair's doing the damage (I'v got dark brown and long hair, my roomie's got short and red hair).

My fat and iron levels are fine. I don't know about good-quality shampoo, I'm afraid. I use the Biolage. I'm starting to think it's just something people with hair like mine have to go through are priviledged to experience. :P

My hair is very thick & a little wavy, about chin length right now. It's also not very strong. My hair grows like my nails: fast, but weak. I actually had a talk with a hairdresser about this: if you look at your "lost" hair, does it have a little bulb at the end? If it does, then it's sheddings coming straight from your scalp. Mine don't, which means that I'm getting breakage. And omg is there breakage--I shed as much as my longhair cats. No straightening, no hairspray or gel, and non-ammonia hair dye, but lots of breakage.

If you're in the same boat (breakage as opposed to shedding from the scalp), strength shampoos work pretty well, and frequent conditioner so that things like hairbrushes and your date's fingers can slide through your hair without breaking it.

I lose a lot.  I have super thick hair with a little bit of wave, so I blow dry it straight every morning.  I lose a lot in the shower, i lose even more brushing it out.

I have recently started taking fish oil supplements and it seems like my hair is sleeker and a little more manageable.  I'm not sure if it really is or if it's just in my head.

I heard that.  I usually am not wearing my glass while I straighten my hair and if I look at the sink without them, no problem.  Then I put my glasses on and discover that the sink is literally full of my hair.

Same thing with the shower drain, my clothes, my pillows.  I will say it's more noticeable now than when I was overweight, not sure what the connection is.

My hair dresser told me to make sure I use a good quality oil before i dry my hair.  She said it makes it easier to get the brush through and will help with damage.  She recommends the biosilk but I haven't tried it yet cuz it's so expensive.  I usually use the garnier.

When my hair is grown out, I shed like crazy.  When it's shorter (shoulder length or shorter), it's less noticable.

I have insanely thick hair, like way crazy thick.  I hacked my hair off in December because I couldn't do anything with it.  It was taking me an hour and a half to straighten my hair.  Part of this was because I didn't have the best iron, but I've since upgrade to a Chi and it still takes me 30 minutes with shoulder length hair.  And that's me going fast!
