Honestly, can you comfortably leave the house without ANY makeup?

Quote  |  Reply

Make-up, hair product, nail polish.  Ladies and gentlemen, how many of us willingly step foot out the front door completely au naturale?

After torturing myself, waking up before dawn to ensure I had enough time to style my hair, put on my make-up, and make sure my polish wasn't chipped, I opted to spend weekends completely clean.  If that meant showing the world my giant zit on my chin and how fluffy my hair is without serum, then so be it.  It looked scary, many accused me of being sick or near death, but it did certainly change my self esteem and how I doll myself up on weekdays.

If I'm wearing my hair down, I have to have product in it (very curly hair). However, I almost never wear makeup unless it's a special occasion, and if I put my hair up, it doesn't need anything in it.

During the summer, I paint my toe nails, but take it off for winter, and I never paint my fingers unless I've got a good reason (in a wedding, eg) - painted finger nails lead to me picking at my nails, so it's safer to just leave them plain.

I do it a lot more often now.

I'm just not going to do it.  I am so sick of getting up and doing my make up and hair for work anyway and I'm not going through that whole process to do anything that I might be doing on a Sunday.  I will not wash my hair, I will not wear make up.  And there's a possibility I might even have some zit cream on my chin and that I "forgot" to wear deodorant.

I never did this when I was heavier.  I felt like I had to compensate for my weight by always smelling great and wearing makeup and matching clothes.

I actually get quite a kick out of going out looking really gross now.  It's rather liberating.

I do on most days.

Though I am loathe to set foot outside in toe-revealing footwear unless my toenails are painted and lovely from a recent pedicure.

Most make up breaks me out. So I only wear it on special occasions (like I'm going to a wedding and they're going to be taking pictures). If I wore it every day, my eyes would burn and sting and my skin would become rashy.

I look awesome just how I am, so I really don't even think about it.

FYI, a cute hat can be your best friend.

No. I need clean undies.

I comfortably leave the house without makup/hair products/etc 95% of the time. If I am wearing makeup, it's generally because I randomly had enough time to do it in the morning. If it's a difference of an extra 5 minutes of sleep (or 5 extra minutes in the shower), or 5 minutes doing my makeup... I'd rather have the sleep/shower.

I do occasionally paint my nails, but I try to go with pinkish colors because I just don't care to keep up with it and end up having half chipped nails for a while.

I do put on a necklace pretty much every work day though. But that's because my outfits tend to not look complete without something.

When I do it, it's usually on the weekends, and I have no problems with it.  I've mentioned it before in another thread, but I've discovered that as I get older, I care less and less about other's people's opinions on how I look.  If that means people at the grocery store have to deal with my natural appearance, then so be it.  It's grocery shopping, not a business meeting or a party.

The only comment I've received is when I dropped something off at the dry cleaners, and the guy said "Are you sick?"  I just smiled and said no, at which point, for some reason, he felt the need to point out the circles under my eyes.  I just continued to smile and said that I must be tired.

I wear make-up 3-5 times a year.  I just don't see the need for it.  It's so time consuming, I'd rather have the extra 15-20 minutes of sleep.

I always wear make up to go to work, out socializing, or 'fancy' shopping. However I don't bother getting jazzed up if I'm just running a few errands about town. This is an improvement for me, as I was one of those ladies who wore make up ALL THE TIME regardless of the occasion. The same thing applies to my hair, however I never bother painting my nails, I'm terrible at it and it stinks up the place.

My mother always told me to look like a lady as much as I can, you never know who you'll run into.

I CAN leave the house without doing anything and be ok, but I rarely do.  I usually have at least mascara on since I have super blonde lashes and I feel like they're invisible otherwise.

Oddly, like pumpkins, when I'm in better shape, I tend to go without the makeup and stuff more often.  I don't attempt to look as gross as I can or anything, I just think I'm more confident then and it shows.

I kind of have to wear makeup to work.  I'm really jealous of you guys who don't.

My fear is being a trauma some day at work and everyone seeing me looking half dead when I'm really not.  My bras and underwear are always clean and stain-free (even the slightest bit of crotch bleaching and they're chucked).  I like my hair either straightened or curled, not so much in it's natural state unless heavily pinned back.  My eyebrows are tweezed, my teeth are clean, and my toe nails are chip-free.

Fortunately, as I mentioned, the weekends of going completely bare have knocked my beauty regime time down quite a bit.  I appreciate more natural looking make-up, which takes way less time than some of the more funkier styles I used to opt for.  I save a lot of time with my hair by using dry shampoos so it can stay straightened or curled a few days without washing.  Since I work with my hands and alcohol-based sanitizer eats away at nail polish quickly, I just keep my fingernails cleaned and trimmed, but my toesies are polished monthly.

I like feeling pretty.  I also like when others think I look pretty, especially when I'm hanging on Alex's arm.  He likes when others give him that look of, "You lucky son of a ****.

I can't say as I've gotten older I care less.  I actually kind of care more.  When I was younger, white face paint all the way, I did not care who stared.  I thought pasty was pretty.

It is a rare day that I wear any make  up.

I wash my hair, pull the brush through it and twist it into a bun.  It takes me about 10 minutes from wake up to fully dressed and ready for the day.

At the end of work I let my hair down, run my fingers through it and voila! done!

I keep my nails short and without polish.  Clean for cooking.

I have a gift certificate for a pedicure.  I have to make time for that.  It will be a first!  (I was supposed to do it a couple months ago as a reward for reaching a weight loss goal)

If people don't like it - they don't need to look.

just curious... why do you have to?

I used to go about 50% make up 50% no make up...even to work and I have suffered from adult acne (much better now...yay!).  But now I'm noticing my face is getting very ruddy...especially my cheeks...so for work I at least put on foundation, blush, mascara, and lipstick/gloss.  Out shopping on the weekends it's a hat and no make up.

:o)

i'm getting better.  face makeup, i'm completely fine skipping (if it's like, a sunday grocery run or something).  the only areas i'm self conscious about are my eyes...as in, i have awful under eye circles, and light coloured lashes.  without concealor and at least mascara, i look REALLY tired and my eyes seem to kinda vanish.

so will i leave the house without makeup?  yes.  but do i feel better if i have makeup on?  yes.

unless i'm camping.  then it's no makeup the whole time.  :P

I almost never wear any makeup to work and when I do, because I am giving a presentation or something, I wear very little so that you can barely tell I am wearing any.

Very few women in my profession (research/applied science) wear makeup. I actually think people in my field who wear a lot of makeup are not as well respected professionally. A little makup tastefully applied is fine, but really most of the women are barefaced and with simple hairstyles.

I love that -- no pressure. I could also get away with wearing jeans and t-shirts to the office much of the time if I wanted to. I prefer to look a little more put together than that, but not dolled up.

I actually feel like it would look kind of unprofessional if I didn't.  Just because my skin doesn't look very healthy.  It's not the worst I've seen, but I look really tired and haggard and splotchy without make up and I think it would look like I just rolled out of bed and didn't give a crap about a professional appearance.  I sometimes wish I could have three weeks off work and not wear any make up for that entire time, just to see if my skin would improve to where I didn't feel like I had to.

I go to work with my hair and make up done.. but I am an attorney and expected to look presentable in the office.  There are days when I don't have clients or court that I will just throw my hair in a pony and put minimal make up on.

If I am just running to the store or going to the gym I will still put on eyeliner.  I only do this because people constantly ask me if I am feeling OK if I don't.  It annoys me.. Plus I do just look better with eyeliner on.

I only ever wear eye makeup... mascara and eye liner, which takes a total of about 4-5 minutes to apply. Therefore, I wear it daily. Not to mention I look dead without something on my eyes.

I usually go without makeup... Unless my skin looks uneven, then I'll put some foundation on.

Then again, even when I go out, it's pretty casual and I'm most certainly not required or expected to wear makeup during classes. If I had a job which required me to communicate with people a lot, I would wear it more often.

I do wear it on occasion and I think it looks good on me. I just don't like the feeling of having it on my face all that much.
