Jesus Freaks or Jesus Panhandlers
What's your definition of one? Do you work with any, or have some relatives who are?
The main time I have a problem with someone being overtly enthusiastic about their faith is when I'm a captive audience.
Some football player praising Jesus? Meh. I didn't want to watch football anyway. *click*
The woman on the bus who stood up to tell us all about "this amazing book... I don't know if you've read it... it's the Bible." I did not like that. But there was nothing I could do, short of getting off and either walking a mile in the dark or waiting half an hour for the next bus. She wasn't hurting me, but I didn't appreciate my conversation with my neighbor being interrupted. Still better than the crazy lady who kept giving me the finger and then tried to trip me as I got off the bus... but that's a story for a different day.
I would probably feel that way about a family member, but fortunately, my whole family approaches religion the same way I do.
i find tebow's overt religiousness a little bit much at times. that being said...having watched every single broncos game that's been on tv this year, i've also noticed another thing...
the damn camera men are ALWAYS on him. not just when he's praying...when he's sitting on the bench. when he's frustrated and making a bit of a poo face. when he's talking to a teammate. all i mean by that is that yes, of course the cameras catch him when he's praying, because i'm pretty sure there are 3467 designated "tebow-men" filming him.
and for what it's worth, i think he actually seems genuine with it. he's clearly quite uh, passionate, in general. dude's just easily excited (as KG has previously said as well from his college days).
I don't really care of pay attention to football, aside from an occasional Go Bison!!,
But I really really care about others beliefs as long as
A), they respect mine
B) they don't try to argue with me or save me, or tell me I'm going to hell because I think, look, act, believe a certain way.
C) They are capable of convering about something other than religion.
My cohort calls them 'god botherers'... and anyone with good breeding knows that you keep your exaltations to yourself. It's your right to believe what you like but other people don't care to know...not really!
It's like public displays of affection... don't do it the street and frighten the horses!

I love everything you just said and how you said it, haha.
I don't know any nice "Jesus freaks." I was once given a salvation prayer thingie because my husband is black. In a supermarket. With my husband.
Yep.

I snog in public because I like an audience.

You dont know any nice Jesus Freaks? That is really unfortunate because the REAL Jesus freaks are nice. Its the fake ones that arent.
I am a Jesus Freak and no matter who you are and what you believe I love you and God loves you. Can you really fault a guy for being excited about something that means the world to him? Its NOT about his career and its certainly not fake. He was the first to say that he thanked God for the opportunity to play at the NFL level because it gives him a platform to address issues around the world. He is the real deal and Im sure he is a really nice guy.
I admit, I AM a broncos fan (only because i married one) but I am definatley a TEBOW FAN! Not because of who he is on the field, but because of his authenticity off the field. He carries the banner for Jesus and its refreshing to see someone with the courage in this day and age, to do that despite the nay sayers.
Our culture these days is fraught with complacency and nobody believes in anything anymore. Even if you dont believe in God, you have to admire the fact that he believes strongly in SOMETHING to stand up to the bullies the way he does.
All of them are Christophrenics. its a form (to me not legit) of schizophrenia. A great place to hear about it is on youtube, look up a guy named calpurnpiso (not sure I spelled it right). But ever since I started watching his videos and heard his definition (the one I mentioned above) it totally fits!
God doesn't love me, don't get me started on that one. ;P
Well, I've never seen Tebow but heard a LITTLE about him. I think it's great he's not ashamed to show his faith. I LOVE the Lord so if I'm a Jesus freak, so be it. The bible says we will be chastised for it so hey, makes me happy. So what would you rather see people professing their Faith in God, or people professing to be gay! I go with God's word and am proud of it but don't PUSH it on anyone, everyone has to make his own choice. God is not a puppet master. EVERYONE will be judged one day and will know the truth.

Yeah... here we go again. Gay people are godless, yadda yadda yadda.
Their actions ARE. I've never met a gay person that loves the Lord, and I do have a couple gay friends. I feel sorry for them, but I'm still their friend. But I don't want to see them in action either!!!!!!

Um, yeah. I did a double take. Really, snakelady? How is homosexuality relevant to any of this discussion?

So I assume you never work on sundays and don't go out in public when you're on your period or don't eat certain meats... etc. etc.
ETA- Also, you can't wear clothing made out of linen and wool (Lev 19:19).
Seriously, the bible is filled with ridiculous rules that no Christian today even considers following. Why we single out gay people is just bizarre to me.
I bet gay people would do just fine without your pity.
Hey Bunny and Adrienne, do you pity any of your friends? No? Me neither.

Wow... what about 'thou shall not judge' or whatever the hell it is? Aren't you bible thumpers supposed to be all loving and all accepting?! And yet you have the gall to say "so what would you rather see people professing their Faith in God, or people professing to be gay!". I would MUCH rather the latter...
And ya know what? Your gay "friends" probably feel sorry for you and your closed mind.
UGH.
snakelady = mean Jesus Freak

You know you're a bigot if...
Seriously though a couple of my best friends are n... err... black people. Am I doing it right?
You shouldn't bother using words like "love" and "friendship" until you've actually experienced them first hand.
What does he mean by Jesus Freaks?
