The King's Speech takes the gold

Quote  |  Reply

Although I have not seen any other of the nominated films, I am confident that The King's Speech will rake at the Oscars tonight. At the least, Collin Firth will take the gold as well as Geoffrey Rush and quite possibly Carter too. Best film? Why not? I'm not even sure what other awards the film is up for (11 categories, I think).

Sure True Grit looks like a contender, but please, not another re-make.

Do you mean Aaron Sorkin, the screen writer?  I was thinking he had a nice speech too, it was well presented!

Reese Witherspoon -- hair style was different but I thought she looked fantastic!

She looked great - but she still reminded a bit of this ;-)

Hee Hee - Cate Blanchet's dress is pretty but looks a bit like the Magic Mirror of Sleeping beauty's stepmother :-)

Cate is gorgeous, but that dress is awful.

It's a bit weird, but I like it better than the on Nicole Kidman wore. She looked like a vase.

Helen Mirren looked smoking!

Helen Mirren is an amazing example of timeless beauty.

Well, any kind of invasive anti-ageing procedures usually creates a huge debate in The Lounge, but I agree with my best friend: Ageing gracefully does include looking at least 10 years younger than we really are - which includes polishes, and fillers and God knows whatelse.

You don't get cheeks like this at that age with just eating healthily.

That Jude Law/Robert Downey Jr bit just pwned.

I think Robert Downey Jr pwned presenting at the Golden Globes, too.

*yawns* I need to head to bed. Looks like The King's Speech isn't winning as much as everybody thought. But I loved The Social Network, so it's great they are getting so many awards.

Definitely a highlight! And actually the reason I've not given up just now and keep thinking 'Just one more'

And then the kitschy jingle come up and I think 'Urg...'

Ok. It rather pissed me off that Inception didn't get best soundtrack. I mean yeah Social Network was an good okay movie but the music is definitely something I wouldn't remember. Heck in 10 years I probably won't even remember the movie! But listening to Inceptions music theme now..... I'm truly dissapointed at the academy....

I do not agree with Social Network winning best original score...at all.  I think the other scores were far better.  Especially How to Train a Dragon and The King's Speech.  It seems like the Academy has a "thing" for Social Network this year.

Edit:  Heck, Inception had an awesome score as well.

EXACTLY!!!!! (haha as you can see I feel quite strongly about this :P )

I really thought Inception shoulda had that one. I would have ranked The Social Network 5th in that category.
