She just sort of stood there looking at me and I finally said if I thought of any pointers I'd be sure to put them in the procedure manual I'm writing.
*sigh*
Just 9 more days......
Morning caj!

Director comes up to me and says, "Is there anyway you can teach me how to know when New Girl is screwing up before you leave?" Referring to the idiot they hired to do insurance verification/new case entry. I say, "I don't think so. I know because I've done her job." She replies, "Well, but for instance how did you know that such and such was wrong?" I look at her and say, "Because I know every single thing that happens from admission to billing so it's easy for me to spot when something has been done incorrectly. If you want me to train you on all that it'll take me another 13 years."
If the agency has procedures that detail exactly what need to be done for each group of tasks then yes it would be easy to tell when some one is not doing the right thing. When documentation is poor, the business relies on their people knowing what needs to be done. That's OK so long as they treat their people right but if they don't and the people leave, the business will suffer.

If you don't have enough time to finish that, make sure you give them a cheat sheet of key things to do and a list of common big gotchas.

*sets up snack list for chatters* what?! We will need them while we watch pav's old company writhe in agony.
What amazes me is that this is a non-profit organization. How in the heck do you get to be a director of something like that without being able to define your processes???
You're almost out, Pav. They'll realize pretty quick how much losing you sucks. Best thing you can do is try to leave on good terms with as many people as possible. I'd really try to avoid showing too much bitterness. You never know who you're going to need down the road :)

By being a good fundraiser.

Most non-profits work that way, though...
especially in the age of ISO.....
Knowing the right people, and being good at giving off "competence" vibes.
More like, by kissing up to the right people.
I agree with the idea of Cajun's cheat sheet. Am assuming most of the problem resides in the proper procedure with regard to state reporting?
Morning all!
Pav, I think they are already missing you before you're gone. It's hitting them that you are one of their best, if not the best. I don't feel sorry for them one bit for freaking a bit at your leaving.
Good morning all!
Kari - what is that in your avi? Looks delicious!!
And we've got work to do!
*plonk*

No, this is all regarding internal procedures. None of the higher ups actually know how to do anything. They "supervise" the people who do, but don't want to muck about with actual processes and practicalities so they let the peons create all their systems and learn any external systems necessary to do their jobs. Then those peons leave and the higher ups not only don't know how to do anything they don't even know WHAT to do!
My mom was the lead AR for 23 years. She did all the billing. She finally got fed up and left last fall and, despite them having 6 weeks notice that she was leaving they didn't hire anyone until the last week she was here. The person that took over for my mom was the person who had been doing our insurance verification/outpatient billing and she left about 4 months later because of how hostile the finance dept. was toward her. They did not hire anyone to replace her in finance before she left. The person they hired to replace her in our dept. is completely inept.
I'm the only person left who has any knowledge of our billing procedures and how the little things we do (or don't do) in terms of database/documentation/etc. affect our ability to bill. I'm now leaving. Rather than bring in the woman who already works in our department and has 10 years of experience working at a hospital dealing with insurance verification/intake/etc. because they didn't want her feelings to be hurt if they ended up not hiring her, they brought in a temp who has only ever worked in manufacturing.
They are Morons of the First Order.
And my temp is now here, so it's time for me to vamoose!
Morning all..
Procedures?? Tasks?? Documentation... yuck to all that.. sounds like work.. *grabs snacks.. *
I am still thinking of the cat and baby bunnies.. My dog found babby rabbits..![]()
Go back to work.. and while you're at it come up with a mission statement or two...
The standard way of climbing the corporate ladder.
I'm not very good at arse kissing. I don't like to pucker that much or that often.
