sitting in a small scale house (about 7' x 10') and weigh large dump trucks all day. I work at a Rock Quarry for the #1 mining company in Ohio and I get paid to simply sit in a chair, type in a bunch of numbers, weigh a dump truck filled with aggregate, and hand them their ticket. I do this everyday, 10 hours a day.

Anyone ever sit back and think ... "how the h*ll did I ever end up here?"

What do you do?? I'm curious ..

I work as a Marketing Assistant/Analyst for a Group Purchasing Organization that sets up competitive pricing for hospitals, doctor's offices, and the like within our national membership.

And I'm definitely seeking new opportunities! (hint hint to anyone in the Chicagoland area!)

as a software architect.  I work with pharmaceutical companies to design software solutions for their clinical trials materials management areas, which means I get to work with people who have only high school diplomas all the way up to biostatisticians, pharmacists, and physicians.  I'm starting a new job with my company soon, though, as a requirements analyst.  That means I'll get to interview customers from all different industries (food/bev, life sciences, semi-conductor, metals, auto, etc.) and write requirements for our software offerings.  I travel quite a bit, but I also work out of my office and home quite often, too.

i was working as a personal banker and consumer lender, but i just switched sides and am working in escrow :)

Rena:)

I work @ a Cable/HSD/Phone company as a Customer Care Rep... Sitting at a desk all day... Doing everything like billing, complaints, tech support and much much more, getting tired of it.

Been doing it for 3 yrs, now attending college (ITT) to move up the food chain and get paid big bucks!!!

I am an Executive admin assistant for a commercial real estate company by day, I teach Taekwondo at the local airforce base and area schools 3 evenings a week. My husband owns his own Taekwondo school, I hope to work for him F/T soon. I am going for my Personal trainer certification as well.

Being a lab slave. I'm at the bottom of the totem pole in a biotech company working on enzymes.

My FT job is a stay-at-home mommy but I also make and decorate cakes from home. It's great on-the-side cash but it's so hard to lose weight sometimes when you are surrounded by cake scraps and frosting.

See my website listed in my profile!

I'm a process engineer for an oil company which basically involves staring at spreadsheets and doing calculations all day long. It can be incredibly dull but it doesn't pay too badly!

I teach pre school.....me and a room full of three year olds! .....jealous??? ..... sure you are.

I'm retired and loving it.  I worked in the purchasing department of a large, heavy industry company.  I took the job to keep a roof over our heads, but never liked it.  My job was checking requisitions for authorization, placing orders, entering purchase orders, expediting delivery and making sure the paperwork got to the accounting department so the stuff could be paid for.

I negotiated contracts for office machines and furniture, as well as OEM and maintenance supplies.  The hours were long and I put up with a lot of nonsense from the almost all male employees and management.  Earning their respect was exhausting and unneccesary.  After all, they didn't have to work hard to earn mine.

Now that I'm retired I'm trying to reclaim my creative spirit that was crushed out of me by the demands of that job.  Every day is a joy!

My advice to younger workers - take full advantage of any 401k program you are offered, or save 15% of your pay for retirement.  Don't spend it on your kid's educations because you are going to need it.

I make my living by......... finding companies that can build parts that I can buy to sell to companies that build tractors.  Laughing

I work in customer services for a printing and mailing company. I like my job but it can be stressful. Among other things I get to provide a million explanations for the fact that Royal Mail striking means that mail will be delayed.  I think this is an easy concept but apparently not! When Royal Mail aren't striking I get to do exciting things like persuade customers that expecting a turnaround time of three hours for a job which takes 8 isn't realistic. I also get to annoy my fellow workers by asking them about anything which was done wrong. I bet by now you all think I was being sarcastic about liking my job but I actually do. The good parts are taking a job from start to finish - dealing with the customer through the whole process and having them say thanks at the end. A little appreciation goes a long way :o) I also get to do proposals, spreadsheets and run around like a madwoman every now and again

I work at a resort on Kauai and book all the activties for the guests.  It's a fun job because you have to go try all the tours so you know what to recommend for the visitors.  I've been doing it for far longer than I planned (12 yrs) but I'm great at it and it allows me to work a flexible scheudle that works for being a mom.  Aloha!

Cool

Whatever I can convince someone to pay me to do. Seriously.

I've been a soldier, an artist, a tradesman, an engineer, a business owner... you name it.

Presently, I'm a minor executive for a defense contractor. I have the worst title ever, it describes exactly NOTHING about what I do. And what do I do? Whatever the less-minor executive just above me tells me to do. That could be: engineering, tech writing, proposal writing, salesman, capture manager, project manager, program director, personal assistant, chief cook and bottle washer.... that's me.

Pay is good, I work from home better than 50% of the time, and I'm not living in hotels anywhere NEAR as often as when I was "traveling trash" which is what many of independent contractors in the defense community end up being. Just drifting from one job to the next, usually working with the same people you worked on the last job with.

I work in a hospital lab 7 days on/7days off on deep nights (930 pm to 800am).  It's not bad, pays pretty well, but too much down time...  the 7 days off in a row every other week is what keeps me at this job.Smile
I am a full-time mom and part-time student. Soon, I will be a court reporter.

I walk around and take people to their tables. I give them menus. I walk back to my post. The cycle begins again. Working at Olive Garden is no fun... but atleast I'm constantly moving most of the time I'm there.

... fortunately next year I plan on moving to Orlando and working at Disney World!!!! *^_^*

Record dealer speciazing in soul, jazz and R&B 45s (7"s) primarily from the 1960's and 1970's.  It's now only part time since I have settled in Italy and all my sources are in the US.  I used to go back and forth all the time but now we have a dog, Clark, so I need to be here.  I'd like to get into copy editing and proofreading from home but need to research how to get my foot into that particular door.  Anyone else here in that line of work?  Nancy
Which one?  I guess my main job (you know, the one that pays for my health insurance).  At that one, I'm an office manager for a labor union that crews movies, tv shows, commercials, and music videos.  It's a feast or famine business in this area of the country.

On the side, I do websites for companies, ocassional bookkeeping jobs, and refinish furniture.

I'm a secretary for a windows and doors showroom.  I make the coffee, answer the phones and transfer calls, file and do a few spreadsheets, and make the showroom look festive during whatever holiday it happens to be. :)

When I have down time (usually quite often! haha) I'm on CC, reading a book, or doing a crossword.
