Okay, so really stupid but i dropped my bean dip today and the container is glass...i scooped out about 1/2 of the contents because i didn't want to waste it since it's a new jar and i ate some because i figured i would see or feel the glass while eating it...well now i'm PARANOID. i ate some and didn't feel anything but i have the rest in my fridge. i think i'm going to throw it out but as for the glass that i MIGHT HAVE EATEN, if it's so small that i didn't feel it while eating it, what are the odds that i am at risk? has anyone ever eaten glass here? please answer!!

Well, I know that when dogs eat sharp things, I've been told to give them cotton balls soaked in beef broth.  The cotton gets trapped around the sharp object, and seems to pass without injury apparently... but then the cotton gets stuck in the dog's bum and his poop chases him and he gets scared...

I wouldn't recommend that in your situation.

All kidding aside - are you feeling any stomach pains, have you already gone to the washroom since you ingested the dip?  Any blood in your stool? Your best bet to be on the safe side would be to just toss the rest of the dip.  I can't imagine an eensie-weensie piece of glass would do much damage, but I'm not a doctor.  I'd say if you're seriously concerned, speak to a doctor (or if you're in Canada, call telehealth).

No pain or discomfort and i just did it like an hour ago so i don't think i'll notice anything for a few days until it passes. i FOR SURE am throwing the dip away, don't want to add to the paranoia by doing it again that would be silly of me, but it is kinda tempting since it cost like 5 bucks, which is still a heck of a lot cheaper than surgery if something goes wrong inside. hopefully it's not too dangerous :/

i swallowed a giant earring once about 5 years ago.  i still have no idea what happend to it.   i think you'll be fine.

edit:  i should probaby explain, the reason i had an earring in my mouth was because i was trying to see what i'd look like with a hoop tongue ring (stupid any way you look at it.)

wait, you mean it didn't come out again?

Well, my boyfriend was trying to break up a bit of ice inside his glass of water and did not realize he had broken off a piece along with it until after he started chewing on the ice/glass. He rinsed with water after spitting everything out and did have a few cuts in his mouth. Wasn't sure whether if he had ingested any glass but he turned out okay so far. As long as you don't cough up and/or poop blood, you should be okay.

LOL, jessicasbc- Glad you didn't choke on it or anything like that!

I would say that you will be fine, if you are still paranoid about it eat some bread it's a perfect sponge for grabbing and holding onto small things.

But i wouldn't worry too much.

The real question is: How many calories in glass?

I did the chewing on ice but breaking off the edge of the glass along with the ice too!

Pretty sure I swalled a chunk of glass with my ice - also cut up the edge of my mouth but never suffered anything internally.

I'm no doctor but I'm pretty sure your body will tell you somehow if something goes wrong in there. But my logic tells me I'm sure you'll be fine.

LMMFAO

I've been told by a vet to give my dog asparagus to eat to help something pass through. The asparagus is stringy and wraps around items.

I swallowed marbles as a child and then pooped them out. Me, my brother and several of my neighbors all did it just because we heard you could see them in your poop. Our mothers were not happy with us. I still remember the look of the marbles embedded in the poop in the toilet.
