Men prefer a size 10

Quote  |  Reply
A UK magazine survey claims that male respondents on average stated that they prefer women who wear a size 12 (size 10 US).

"While the women stated a preference for a body around size 8 (US size 6), men were more interested in a slightly curvier size 12 (US size 10). "

What do you make of that?

absolute bollocks. sorry but it's true.

i don't believe that for a second.

I wish that were true, but I'm just having a hard time believing it.

That's silly, not all guys like the same body type.  I'm not a guy, obviously, I'm only guessing this because my gal pals don't all like the same body type.

One of my friends loves bigger guys...tall and...would thick be the pc word?  She thinks it's hot.

My other friend loves skinny guys...also tall, but lanky and thin.

I like athletic guys.  Friend 1 thinks my guys are scrawny, friend 2 thinks their bulky.

There are too many flavors to fixate on one, anyway.

hahahha that is CRAP.

I'm a 4. and men like me too ya know!

I agree it depends on the guy...but I have noticed I get more attention from older men when I am a bit heavier and vice versa.

Ummm looking at those women they are taller, so that kind of skews it. That size 12 woman looks like my body type and I wear 4-6 and the 8 looks like a size 2-4 TALL woman.

With the rampant vanity sizing going on in North America these days, I don't believe for a second that a UK size 12 is what US stores call a size 10.  More like a 6 or an 8.  Up until a couple of years ago, I used to spend a couple of weeks in the UK every year at Christmas - which, of course, involved clothes shopping.  At the time, I wore a US size 12 and a UK size 16.  So, unless the vanity sizing is worse in the UK (which I doubt), the conversion factor's wrong.

Also, I HATE vanity sizing.  I was all excited that I was finally back down to fitting into medium tops (a big deal for me 'cause I'm top heavy) then I got home and found that this year's medium is BIGGER than last year's large!  WTH?!?!  Same store; same item.  Argghh!

I read this article and I liked it, obviously because I am a UK size 12!

In terms of converting to US sizes, I recently went into the new Banana Republic shop that opened in central London, where all the sizes are obviously US sizes. I told the sales assistant that I was a UK 12 and they recommended I try size 8, however that was still slightly too big for me, and I could fit into their size 6 (jeans).

I know you can't generalise on the basis of one shop, and I think generally it is two sizes down.

My experience with men is that they are happy with whichever size they get their hands on that is near their general preference.

I think it just depends on the person.

The general rule is a 4" difference in sizes between UK and USA.

Yer, I'd always gone on the rule that a UK size is 2 off a US ie. US size zero = UK 4; US 2=UK 6 etc. so UK 12 = US 8. Of course there is vanity sizing and shops are all different but that's how it's supposed to be.

Did anyone go look at the survey?  It was stupid and was really focused on what men THOUGHT the right size, ie the size of their gf, was.

Utter bollocks.  (I just wanted to say that word!)

I would not trust anything out of that survey-- further down on it for the women there are misspelled words and duplicated answers.  Seems to me to just be... a publicity stunt?

P.S. I think the UK Size 16 girl looks almost perfect.  I would want to look like her.

Well said.

I've also found that two people of the same dress size can also look very different depending on where and how they carry their weight.

How many men actually know what size their partner wears anyway?

Is a lie!

I concur.

Who cares?! There is somebody for everyone. Does it really matter what the general public thinks? You are not going to sleep with the general public (well lets hope not) - chances are you are going to share your body with a handful of men or less in your whole life, that is what matters. What THEY think.

*cough* BS! */cough*

I'm much larger than a size 8, 12, or 16 and since the time I was able to date, there has never been a shortage of affection from males in my life. :-D

My hubby does.  Even before I started losing weight, he requested that I keep him informed so he would be able to shop for me for gift giving occasions.
