Morning weight vs. Evening weight

Quote  |  Reply

Do you have a HUGE difference in weight from morning to evening?  I'm like 4.5 lbs heavier in the evening.

Is that normal?  If so, when is a good, accurate reading?  Mid-day? lol

You weigh yourself at night? What kind of masochist are you??

...Not a solitary masochist :)

I've weighed myself every morning and night for about a year and a half. Though it sounds obsessive, it's helped me see trends and feel better about my personal 'normal' fluctuations. I know now what is normal for me and when I need to pay more attention to what I'm doing or not doing during the day. I usually have a 3-4 pound flux between am and pm. More on days I get too much sodium.

I try to weigh myself every morning at the same time, before I eat or drink anything. And then at night right before I go to bed. It gives me an idea what I might expect in the morning. Logging my food has helped greatly too. That shows me what certain foods might be getting me stuck sometimes, so I can eliminate or at least cut back on them.

I'm sure it's not the answer for everybody, but it works for me.

Yes, there is a large difference.  Weight fluctuates by several pounds based on food/water in your system.

My lunch and especially dinners are huge, so yeah, some nights can be 84 kilos, and other mornings/before lunch has been around 81.5 or 82 Easily 5ish pounds. Food weight, water weight, glycogen weight, all add up pretty damn good

Ooooh. I hate thinking about this haha. It's torturous!

I weigh about 5 pounds heavier at 6PM than at 6AM and my waist size goes from a 26 to a 27 for about 4 hours after I've last eaten >.<. (for the record I wear a 26 pant, so the later measurement/weight is definitely water and not the one to trust. Hopefully >.>)

.

Yes, definitely I have a 4 to 5 pound difference from morning to evening too! I try to just weigh myself in the morning before I eat anything, at the same time every day, even so I have about a 2lb fluctuation from day to day -- my weight log looks like a wave pool!

Yes that's normal.  If you're really concerned about scale weight, weigh yourself at the same time everyday.  A lot of people do it in the morning, just after they wake up and pee.

whew*

so, it's normal.

I hate the fluctuation.  I don't even want to talk about the difference in the scale when aunt flo comes to town!

That's when it kills me. When auntflo comes to town I gain about 5 pounds and I can tell in my belly. Other than that. I usually weight two more pounds at night than in the mornings.

My scale is not nice to me at night.  It even scares me during the day so I try to stay away and depend on how my jeans fit!
