Mr Right???

Quote  |  Reply

I am 38 and been ill most of my life (since 15) and still unwell.

I manage to work but have no social life and would love to meet a nice man for friendship and maybe more.

I have nill friends (arrrrhhhh! Lol!) thus no girl pals to go out with.

Any ideas how i can meet new friend and hopefully Mr Right?

Are on line dating sights dodgy?  Can they work?

Thank you xx

Online dating sites can and do work. We've got at least 4 or 5 couples right here on CC that either met online, or joined sites.

Wishing you success on your new journey. :)

-raises her hand proudly- That's me :)

Fiance and I met on Craigslist almost 5 years ago, getting married on our 5 year anniversary this July :)

I recommend okcupid.com, I met an ex there and we're still good friends, plus it's free and easy to use :)

*raises hand too*

Husband and I met in a chat room (Anime Room - Napster, we're dorks) 10 years ago and we've been married for 5 years now. My husband and I were together for the first 5 years online only. We lived an ocean apart (he in the UK, me in the US).

The internet offers a wider range of "choices." Mr. Right could live 500 miles away and without the internet you'd be stuck with 25-50 miles of choices.

I thought Craigslist was for meeting hookers.

That's funny that you found you finance in the same place people can buy a used weedwhacker.

I've only "window shopped" in the online dating arena.  I have not found it to offer very attractive choices.  BUT...THATs JUST WHAT IVE SEEN...so, haters stay at bay.

I think this topic came up a long time ago, on the best places to meet people.  I think there ended up being too much variance based on how old you were.  For example, the best place to meet people for high schoolers was different than college students which was different than youg adults, etc..

Dude. I thought you were married?

 Oooo...

This way it sounds like hookers found her fiance at some type of haters establishment for people too old to pick up high schoolers.  It's like an ad lib.

EDIT: I was going to explain why I prefered to express myself in a more genuine fashion, but after reading it...I realized I would likey create too much drama...and then nomo would say terrible things to me.  So, I'm being "good."

KG- And yes, I'm married.  That's why it's only a "window-shopping" rather than an all-out "shopping spree."

But deep down you don't really want Nas to take away the impression that you think she's a hooker, do you?

I deeply admire authenticity in actions and words, but I think there's more to you than a wish to pick at scabs. For good or ill, I'll keep mining until I find it.

Is Craiglist well known for escorts and hookers?  Yes.  Very well publicized.

Do I think nor did I mean to imply that Nas was a "hooker", probably not and no.

Do I think such a reaction to my post is rational?  No.  Would it surprise me if a CCer had an irrational reaction to what I posted...definitely no.

But, as will always be the case with your's truly, I am genuine to a fault.  I don't post "lols" and "smooches" and stories about kittens.  The day I have to resort to that nonsense to be accepted, is the day I bid fairwell forever.  There are enough fake and deceptively friendly people in here to fill that void, you don't need me.

Some people like my style, some not some much, others despise me to the core.  I will continue to be me...whether here or in banishment.  All I can say to calm your fears is, I rarely, intentionally insult or offend.  I usually either do so coincidentally, just as a byproduct of my provacative nature, or in retaliation for the same.  Case in point, I can think of more direct and amusing ways to insult Nas if that were my intent.  : )

Heh. I don't have any fear with regard to you C-Cat.

But you are a grown up, and as such need no happy-happy joy-joy edits from me.

My apologies. Carry on.

met my boyfriend online.  on a free site too, which seems to result in more weirdos, it appears.  probably because of the whole not needing pay thing.

however, he's great.  and we work incredibly well together.  sometimes good things just come from places you don't expect.

You never need to apologize.  Your honesty is appreciated.  I want you to be you, and if that means pointing out my "naughtyness"...more power to ya.

If everyone agreed with me, this place would be boring.  Everyone would be right to agree with me of course.  But boring nonetheless.

 thank you, momma <3

(and it was partially due to jules being awesome!  yaaay!)

I know several married couples who met online. There are tons of specialized dating sites too - I know an Indian couple who met on a Sikh dating/courtship site.

My other friends have mostly used eharmony. Worth a try, eh?

Best of luck!

Everyone would be right to agree with me of course.

wow.

septi, i'm 99.9% sure that was a joke.  i mean, as much as i don't always agree with calcat (and my mind is still racing about him "window shopping" on online dating while married)...

but i definitely read that as a joke.  :)

and now this is happening:

The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return...
