Does your name age well?
I can't imagine being an 80-year old named "Brittany." :/
Other names I don't think age well: Whitney, Jessica, Chelsea, Maddox, Jaime...
Am I the only one who thinks about this ****?
An 80 yr old named Tiffany? Nah.
I think Jessica would hold up though.
I've seen grown men with names of Chip, Joey, Billy. Come on, you're adults, not little boys.
But...what recourse does Chip have? Is it short for anything or is that the whole name? Poor Chips.
Oh so totally.
I just can't imagine looking at this wizened old man and saying " Hi Ashley; did you have a nice visit with the grandkids?"
Or looking at a wrinkly Grandma and saying "Well Demi, how is your day going?" Then turning to her neighbour and asking " Moon Unit, how's the pudding?"
But equally, I can't imagine looking at a new born baby and calling him Frank or James or Nelson or Blue.
I like the name Periwinkle for a girl though, hmmm...it may not age well.
I think Jessica Tandy has shown that Jessica can age just fine. But I'm with you on the rest.
It's always baffled me that my grandmother was named Edna. Who would do that to a baby?
what is the name Edna anyway? It sounds like nasal clearing in a meadow...First the one nostril...Eeeeehhhhd....then the other....naaaah.
Imagine naming your babygirl Gertrude. Or Bertha. WTF.
My grandma's name is Jane, and I absolutely adore her and her name. If/when I have a girl, her middle name will be Jane.
I love my name, absolutely freaking love it. Conceited? Mebbe ;) But I do think it will age well.
I also love the name Brittany. So no worries, kotov, or slo ;)
ETA: My middle name is pretty fawking awesome, too. :D
My name hasn't. A couple of years ago I heard a parent call their kid by my name. It sounded awful. Retro is fine, but not with names.
What bewilders me more is the fact of the music we'll be listening to when we're old. I know my grandparents listen to -- well-- old music...
Soon, old grandparents will be listening to rap, hip-hop, rock.

i think my name stands up. the only issues i've ever had with it are that some people shorten it out of laziness (three syllables. c'mon. you can manage) and that when i was a little kid, the only people who had my name were the mexican maids on TV shows.
i think that almost any name that ends in a long-E sounds like it's a name for a little kid.

This is awesome. :D
My name is Karen. Not cutesy for a little girl but I think it's been good as I get older.
My boys have names that they have to be the president or CEO of a company otherwise well ya. Except the baby. His name is Sammy. He's so cute and his name suits him but as he grows older Sam'll be just fine.
I already have an old woman's name, so I don't have to worry.

I'm already experiencing this. I was listening to "Gin and Juice" in the car this afternoon and my little cousin was all, "what the hell is this?"
And I was all, "G's up, hos down."

She's 18...I don't know what the hell is wrong with her. She knew Biggie, though, so...I guess I'll still let her stay. :P
Also...Kelsey is another name that won't age well. I think pg is onto something about the long e names.
My name (Novicia) was never that good. And as for the other ones... I know people with babies named Nevaeh, Princess, Go'Diss... Grammy Tiffany doesn't sound so bad now, does it?
*looks around awkwardly* I have a name with a long eeee sound and that's why I add my middle name.
Egads, a hyphenated name and certainly not Southern.
Am I putting on airs?
Just don't call me.....
....late for dinner.
