How do you discover new music?
I usually check out reviews on pitchfork, look at new music mondays from urban outfitters, find things on pandora, follow my favorite bands, and get recommendations by word of mouth from friends.
If you know of any other cool sites, please share.
no one? ok, how about what bands you are currently loving?
Right now I'm really into Real Estate and The Shins new album.
Small fee, but you can get XM through the web or your phone. I get XM in my car and I'm sad about the world I lived in before discovering XM radio.
Otherwise, Pandora. I also get recommendations through subscriptions on Youtube.
What kind of music do you listen to?
Don't bother. New music is terrible.

You just made me squeal with delight. I love James Mercer's voice. I really dig Broken Bells too (his collaboration with Danger Mouse).
I'm going to link some things you might like (forgive me if you've heard them already)..
Please stand by.
@ meta - I used to have XM in my car but I wasn't that impressed. Maybe I was missing something?
I love the shins and broken bells! Did you get port of morrow yet? It's pretty amazing. I mostly listen to indie, hip hop, some rock, I guess a little of everything, but mostly indie.
Imma have to disagree there. I love some oldies but there is plenty of great new music.

Am I old since I haven't heard of any of these bands?
I listen to a bunch of stations via the web, quite a few out of Europe. Have been with some of them for about 8-10 years now and honestly can't remember how I got into them. (Like Virgin Radio out of London for example.)
My musical tastes have always been all over the place. What I listen to is most often dictated by mood.
My newest favorites are Goyte's album Making Mirrors and Florence and the Machine's Ceremonials.
ETA: And Lana Del Ray. Love her voice!
@barbar - care to share the stations you are listening to? Also, Check out walk off the earth's cover to somebody that I used to know - it rocks!

Ok, will do!
Well Absolute Radio (used to be Virgin Radio) out of London. I have 3 stations I love out of France - Le Mouv, Frace Bleu and Voltage. (I used to speak French fluently, can't so much now, but I can understand it well.)
And the last one is out of Italy. Love the name, Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
I'd say I get most of my new stuff from Absolute, but the others are fun for me and I hear lots of cool music.

NO! You're probably younger than I am. Anyone younger than me is not allowed to say they're old. ;)
Good call. Forgot I do that too. :)
I love iTunes!
Man, we've come so far from the days when I had hold the cassette recorder to the radio to record favorite songs. Then pop that homemade compilation cassette into my Walkman.
I am so very, very happy we have!!!!!

Awesome!! I'm always excited when people don't think the music I like sucks. :)
Looking forward to your suggestions!! I'm going to keep posting songs here periodically. I assure you, this thread will not die.
