Going to NY...

Quote  |  Reply

Need suggestions for any good restaurants within walking distance of Rocefeller Plaza?  I am looking for something American Cuisine/Italian.  Fancy, but not outrageously expensive.  Celebrating a birthday with (2) other people, so I want it to be something special.

Going a week from today, so I need to make a reservation!!!

Thanks!

I have a friend that cooks at Pulino's, but I've no idea of its location in relation to Rockefeller Plaza (I live in California).  Heard it's great, though!

Hope you have an awesome time!

Thanks for the suggestions, but it might be too far to walk (3 miles).  Looking for something a bit closer

Well, if you don't come up with anything closer, it might be worth the cab fare!  :)

true :-) it does look good!

My friend who cooks there went to the Culinary Institute of America, and the head chef is Nate Appleman, who was on Iron Chef.  Pretty good stuff!  My fiancée is a bit of a food snob, and I think a bit of that has rubbed off on me.  :D  I think it sounds good too!

Sparky, that looks good. I might give it a try :)

the location is downtown. the op will need to take the subway from Rockefeller plaza.

there are nice restaurant near the plaza but I am not sure if they are American/Italian Cuisine.

yeah, I am going with my mom and she is dealthy afraid of the subway.  We could take a cab, but I am worried about traffic/parking.

Any ideas would be great!

and he's cute...  cuz, y'know, cute chefs > less cute chefs?  :P

Carmine's is the classic Italian family style restaurant and is delicious. It's at 44th and 7th, which is about a 10 minute walk from rockefeller depending on your speed I think.

The spicy scarpariello wings are to DIE for.

EDIT: Note that "family style" in this case means HUGE: each plate feeds about 3-4 people so if you are going to be 3 or 4 people, you should get one appetizer and one main course and maybe a side (or two main courses if you are big eaters, but expect leftovers). We usually spend about 30 bucks a person to gorge ourselves on amazing italian food and get enough to eat lunch the next day too.
