1. 22, female, caucasian

2. Hm, that's tough.  My dad is 60, and he's still really active and in-shape.  He skis, hikes, backpacks, etc.  And he still works full-time.  So I wouldn't consider him "old".  I'd probably say old is 70+.

Oops, forgot to answer part three.

3. I would define old as:

  • Physically deteriorating to a level that impairs daily life (e.g. needing a walker to get around, having difficulty climbing stairs, poor vision, having poor hearing, etc.)
  • Sometimes (but not always) mental impairment accompanies the physical impairment (e.g. dementia, alzheimers, general memory loss)
  • From the outside, the old person can be recognized by wrinkles, hair loss, poor posture (due to arthritis, back problems, etc.)

My 80 yr old MIL just told me last Friday: "When I grow old, I'll come and live with you."

By that standard, I'm a mere child.

2.  A person is old when he/she decides to give up on life.

3. a.)  What kind of personality does this person have? Life is no longer worth living  b.)  What kinds of things do they like to do? Waiting to expire c.)  How does an “old” person typically look like? Walking dead

Is "old" a bad thing?

Yeah, I didn't answer this according to the format. I'm a rebel that way, as all tweenagers are! ha! said the 54 year old woman.

I'm 55, had a Scottish dad and Irish mother, born in England. Would you believe that on most forms I fill in on ethnicity that makes me an "other"!

Old age officially starts at 59 in the UK, inside I'm still a teenager. I still have most of my hair and my own teeth, so as far as I'm concerned I'm not old.

Old to me is having lost your marbles. On that basis some who know me might think of me as old! I am looking forward to being cantankerous and irritating!
