why are some people so ugly?

1. Most of the women that I encounter that don't wear makeup say they don't because they don't know how to apply it properly.
Far be it for them to "learn" how from a make-up artist. You can get a lesson at any department store make-up counter. Most require a purchase but you can buy one item such as lip gloss and it would count. You can also see makeup artists apply makeup or view pictures on most of the major lines websites (Bobbi Brown, Smashbox, MAC, Cover Girl, Revlon, etc.).
In 2002 I purchased a full set of MAC makeup brushes. A girlfriend of mine who worked at MAC also worked at a salon as an Esthetician. She gave individual makeup application "classes". So I paid and had her teach me how to use each one. The top things that she stressed was 1. Skincare, 2. Arch/Trim your eyebrows and fill them in if they are sparse, 3. Curl your lashes (I am still working on #3 as I want a heated lash curler)
2. A lot of women are lazy, cheap, or both when it comes to things like makeup and skincare. They won't research different products to find what will work best for them. They will try what their friends use which may not be right for them. Also some won't wash their faces, drink water, stop smoking, or get enough rest. I have a girlfriend who at the age of 24 was talking about getting Botox! She was amazed at how much water I drink and the fact that I wash my face EVERY morning and night. She drank soda everyday and although she washed her face in the morning, she did not always wash it at night. I told her if she keeps doing that then she WILL need Botox.
Personally I view it as an investment in myself. The only cheap makeup I buy is mascara as I prefer Maybelline or Rimmel. They make me look like I have on falsies! However, while the department store brands aren't worth the extra cost to me for mascara, I am willing to pay more for any product that will actually touch my skin as I am "sensitive". I only wear MAC foundation or powder as they have more color choices for women of color. Cheaper brands can make you look orange or ashen.
Most days I wear just mascara and lipstick and/gloss. It makes me feel and look "pulled" together. However; for special occasions I will apply color with emphasis on my eyes and I always get compliments. Now everybody wants me to do their makeup! My sister even asked me to do hers for her wedding...I refused because she was being a "bridezilla" but that's another topic LOL
Most women that you think don't have on any makeup (i.e. natural beauties) are actually wearing makeup.
They just know how to apply it properly. If applied properly makeup should make you look YOUNGER! Makeup is supposed to enhance what you have; not cover it up...less is more!!!![]()
Here are some interesting pictures to look at.....Whaddyall think?
The thing I hate about this argument is that every time it pops up again it's the people who have ordinary skin (few pimples, discoloration, irritation) that preach about how being natural is best.

You make an awful lot of assumptions and none of them are true for any but the minority.
The last time I got a makeup consultation the girl made me look like a cheap prostitute. Pay for these kind of lessons? I dont think so!
I am no great beauty by any stretch but most people are really surprised that I dont wear makeup. They assume that I do anyway.
Please dont assume I am cheap because I dont flush my money down the drain on crap sold to me by the media. There is so much more important in life than spending hours on my vanity. I spend my time and money where it counts to me and where it will actually make a real difference.
It is not because I "dont care" or because I "dont know how" or any other stupid assumption. It is because I do know - that these products are fine, but NOT important in the scheme of life and in the end people who matter judge you based on other things than how or if you spend time on makeup.

I have pimply, oily skin. natural is best for me.
Taking care of yourself is an investment. For me, it is part of my overall 'mojo' (if you will). I take care of my body, I exercise and I do my hair and make-up (even on weekends). It makes me feel confident. When I come out of the gym after a good workout, I have my game on. I am strong, powerful...couple that with a nice outfit and hair and makeup done to perfection and there is nothing that can stop me.

Did you actually read the thread? One of the main arguments for wearing makeup was covering acne (by people with clear skin) and one of the main arguments against was that it made the acne worse (by people who actually have it).
I take care of myself. I eat right. I drink lots of water. I exercise. I keep my face/teeth/hair/nails/body/clothes/etc. clean and tidy. I get my hair cut. I am now finally able to buy cute fitted clothes. I don't consider putting on makeup to be "taking care of myself". I don't judge others for wearing it - and many of them look quite nice wearing it. I occasionally wear it myself. But if you're judging others for not wearing makeup, that's your problem not theirs.

This is exactly how I feel!! Last night I had a great workout - ran 8 mile and lifted weights. Then I got home, took a shower, shaved my legs, straightened my hair, and took my time applying makeup. I felt like a million bucks!!
This thread never dies.

Uh... I have raging pimples on my face as we speak! I still don't wear make up to hide them. Ever. I also have red skin on my cheeks and around my nose, I don't hide it. I've got an oily t-zone too.
Some people are OK with their short-comings.
I don't even own any foundation.
I wash my face morning and night and apply clearsil to the uglies and carry on with life. Men don't go around covering their short-comings, why do women have to?
I don't like that flat matte look that make up gives anyway. People's faces are SHINY.
WHAT S WRONG WITH WEARING MAKEUP????? WHATS WRONG WITH NOT WEARING MAKEUP????? WHO CARES. It's what makes you feel good. Wear it...don't wear it. So be it. I wear it when i want and/or have to...but I also don't wear any most days [bc I work at a gym and workout / instruct classes...nothing more unattractive than raccoon eyes]. I think make up is cool...I think not wearing it is cool too. Whatev floats ya boat!
I didn't realize everyone was so passionate about what someone else puts on their face. D:
I started Jr. High with makeup and by Freshmen year I was unable to wear it. I am allergic to it so I don't wear it.
Something else to think about-When a woman wears makeup every day as they age they appear to wrinkle more. I have a friend that never goes anywhere without having her "face" on. When I saw her without the makeup she had leathery and wrinkled skin.
I think the makeup ages your skin.
in my head i always like the idea of wearing makeup, but then if i actually do it i feel extremely fake. i just dont want to meet people with lots of makeup on and then one day reveal what i actually look like. to me, thats kind of awkward.

people love their opinions, no matter how trivial. sorry to say but its true.

Wow, self righteous much? You are putting her down for wanting to wear make-up! You are both wrong. Neither of you should care what the other does. Does her wearing make-up affect you? No. Does the fact that you don't wear make-up affect her? No. Chill out.
I wear a little make up to work, because I feel I look more professional, and occasionally when I go out. I hate it. It makes my acne flare up and look worse if I don't remove the slime promptly when I get home.
I love how mascara looks, but my eyes are so sensitive that I don't dare wear it anymore. Same with perfume. Smells great; burns my eyes like someone sqirted me with pepper spray. I can't even use heavily perfumed lotions. A little scent is ok, but it really has to be light. I tried a new face lotion the other day that said it was 'perfume free', etc, etc. I had to wash it off after 10 minutes because my eyes were on fire and the skin around them was turning red and puffy.
Some people just don't mix well with make up.
The feminist in me rails against it; the woman in me embraces it. I love being able to dress my face, or to choose not to and to make statement or to disappear. I feels sorry for most men that they can't, but also envy them that they are not expected to try so-damn-hard-all-the-time. My war-paint, my fancy-dress, my concealer, healer and revealer: I love you my make-up!
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
