Would you rather be fat or pretty?

Quote  |  Reply

I am sitting in a meeting with 4 males, 2 females .. the males are being "male" and one says, while high fiving the other males, if you had a choice, would you rather be fat or pretty?

Seriously? I was horrified that someone actually said that! The other female said that she would rather be pretty cuz you can always lose weight. Uh .. what?

The one male says to the other male .. I would rather have em skinny cuz you can always cover their face ... SERIOUSLY?

Simply amazing to me.

Wow, that's terrifying in the sense that it's not surprising at all.  Sometimes, it's distressing how people behave.  But, I have a feeling that a lot of that discussion stems from insecurity issues.

I've been both at the same time and it's been fabulous! Wink

Was this at work?  That is totally inapropriate work behavior.  The guy should have never said that.  It's unprofessional.

UGH!!!

Oh yeh, at work.  I was completely horrified.  I just could not believe it.  The other guys were laughing and making all kinds of jokes.  Even one of the other girls was laughing.  I didn't think it was funny at all.

A person is not defined by either of those things.  I guess I am just having a grumpy day, but that was wrong.

These people clearly have hidden shallows.......

Isn't it 'would you rather be fat or ugly?'

Oh the shallow world we live in.

Personally, I'd rather be chunky and pretty than to be thin and ugly.  I see so many women who are heavier but so gorgeous, therefore, their weight really isn't an issue.

But, no matter if someone is heavy or thin, if you aren't pretty, you aren't pretty.  Short of plastic surgery, nothing can be done.

In either case, no, it was not appropriate work discussion.  I work in a very close office and we are a family owned company and we all talk very openly about a lot of stuff.  I like it because I dont get offended by stuff like that.  However, if in a corporate setting that would not be okay.
lol, this thread is too much, at the risk of offending anyone I won't add my two cents, but atleast i'm laughing :p
I get a chuckle from the last post...

Don't hit me ok???

Reminds me of a joke....What is a double bagger?

Answer:  the woman is so ugly you use two bags in case the first one falls off.

I had to do it..... couldn't help myself.

Now back to our regularly scheduled thread.......

hehe.

"She has a butter face?"

"What is a butter face?"

"Everything is nice, but her face."

I am sure you have all heard that, but I still get a kick out of it.
Hahahahaha.

Whatever, dumb people say dumb things.  It just show that some people are really stupid.

Sooooo what's new?

I'm both. I oooze sexiness.

Haha!!  That is great!  I ooze sexiness.  Great way to end the work week.  This place is great.

Well this one came from my boyfriend, when I told him that the men at the gym will hit on anything....
He said baby, it wasn't your beauty it  was your booty, and I know he got that off a movie..

I wasn't mad at him at all... I was called big bootylynn in highschool. I didn't care about the name, because back then.. I felt good about my size. I felt like a true hourglass, and my oldest child got it.. I just hope she don't have to face these type of things, but I know she will.

Maybe I am slow but I am not getting the question you posed in the OP. Do you mean, would you rather be "pretty and fat" or "skinny and ugly"?

I think julia hit it on the head exactly why I hate living in america... Political correctness offends me. 'Run to the manager and inform them someone said something mean', the manager doesnt care but has to do something because otherwise you'll sue her/him and bankrupt the company...
There is no possible way to be respectful of 'everyones feelings'. Its 'offensive' to mention a holiday, or sex, or anything. In some cultures its going to be offensive to talk, and in american culture its going to be offensive not to talk. Where do you draw the line?

There was a lawsuit in CA of a woman offended by the fact that in computers we use Master/Slave as terms, on things that well, act as Master/Slave, i'm not even sure how else to describe them, because they are truely master and slave by their dictionary definitions. Yet this woman was offended, and sued, and won. We also use male/female for most electrical/audio/video components, I suppose thats going to offend someone, so we should change that... Why don't we all wear uniforms in life, walk in straight lines and not utter words, so we can all be happy, and most important politicaly sensitive to everyones feelings. Also we should all wear size 50 clothing because we could offend those overweight by being thinner then them.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
