Stupid Things People Do At The Gym...

Quote  |  Reply
All in good fun...please don't be offended.

1. The soccer mom's that come with their friends who have gossip-fests while slowly walking on the treadmills.

2. Those silly girls that wear bows, earings and makeup who attempt to workout but end up "accidentally" walking past the mirrors.

3. Big, bulky guys who make loud noises when lifting weights.

4. People who sing out loud with their i-pods while working out.

5. People who come to the gym, look around at the equipment, get a protein shake...and then call it a day.

6. People who save machines for their friends! (Ahh don't do that)!

7. People who don't clean up the machine when they are done. (GROSS)! Come on now.

8. The ever-popular person who talks on the phone while attempting to work-out.

9. People who walk around naked in the locker-rooms. I know it IS a locker room...but its still a public place and some people don't really want to see that much! Haha

10. People who bring novels to read while they ride their bikes. (Sorry but I just don't get it.)

After reviewing my list...I wonder why I go to the gym sometimes. But I love the machines. I'm a small girl...but I am a hardcore running, stair-climbing, elliptical-ing, sweating freak! I go to the gym to sweat my guts out and I don't talk to anyone. The gym is not a place to mingle in my opinion.

There's my two cents! Please feel free to add to the list! :)

I hate it when people stand directly in front of you while you are using a piece of equipment as if to say... Hurry UP!

I only did that once because I was waiting on a machine and somone cut in front of me.  I made the mistake of not knowing he and his girlfriend OWNED the machines and were alternating between that one and another weight machine, never mind me waiting for it....   He did a whole five and got up and huffed away.

I just wanted to make sure he saw me waiting there for the next set.  Ya know?  He obviously had no clue of gym etiquette-- but it is THAT time of year again!

Yes. I do OWN the machines.

Just kidding. Haven't seen you around for a while. How are you?

Great, thanks!  Just maintaining my good-lower weight right even though I've been on the couch for three months recovering from shoulder surgery.  Now I can do cardio and lower-body weights in addition to my physical therapy.

I see nothing much has changed around here.  People are as ill-informed as ever which may just be a lot of new users bringing up the same or old topics.

How about you?

I am guilty of singing out loud to the music in my ear. I can't help it. I love to sing and when I'm bangin out calories and the music is going, its like I'm in my own world and its nothing but me and that machine. I usually pick a machine that no one is next to and hope no one comes near me and if they do, I'm thankful if they have their own music to listen to and I can still sing to my heart's content.

Now as for the nakedness in the locker room....GROSS. And then people have the NERVE to sit their bare behinds on the benches, sweaty or showered, it doesn't matter...its NASTY and DISGUSTING. Not to mention that I do NOT wanna see ur goods.

Just make sure you never set a foot into any sauna in continental Northern Europe! You'll get a good view of the bloke's goods as well.

this is so funny!

one of my #1 pet peeves at the gym is the people (especially women) who do cardio and do not sweat at all!  After 30 mintues on the elliptical my back is dripping sweat!

Anyway, the whole nudity thing is really weird, I dont know why it makes you feel so uncomfortable. I think it's an America thing. Every other country I've been to nudity is less of a crazy thing as it is here. However, the whole butt on the bench thing is gross from a health perspective. But I don't understand how, changing out of my swimsuit in the locker room, am I supposed to not be naked and some point during that process. A locker room is for changing and people get grossed out when someone changes in it??

Oh....I so have to agree with this. I can't understand why it seems that is is deemed offensive to take your clothes off in a...ahemm.... changing room?

Am I supposed to cower under a towel or run twittering like a teenager to the toilets to change?

BTW, this happens alot in my gym....and it p*sses me off. Sometimes I want to visit the toilet....to use it for it's designed purpose (is this unreasonable?)....and they are filled with women changing into their gym gear. HOW OLD ARE WE GIRLS????? last time I saw such behaviour was at school. sheesh

Its only bits guys. We all have them. Get over it.

@kikt: hehe....actually, I was going to change the "guys" reference......but you said u were bored so I thought I'd give u something to reply to.....

BTW "guys" =  reference to both genders....even tho my examples are only from girls. I haven't seen what goes on in the boys rooms. I'd hope they are more sensible

Furry, my BF told me one of his friends once slapped him with his junk in a changing room when he played football in high school.

I think men are comfortable enough in front of each other in changing rooms.

Riiight - that's what you are saying now!

Honestly, the English are also incredibly prudish. I find that incredibly funny. I once went to a women only day spa in London and walked into the saun naked. Three teenage girls in there so horrfied that they stopped their conversation and desperately tried to look anywhere but not my ageing slightly overweight body.

I had a hard time not snickering.

Mind you my first time on a lake in East Germany (at the time reunited for about 8 years) I was a bit stunned just how far the East German nuditiy thing reaches. I almost fell out of my sisters paddleboat when a guy was windsurfing past us stark naked.

O.o

Wonder what kind of sunscreen he was using on his family jewels...

hmmmm......OK.....Each to their own I suppose. And it just comes back to what you are bought up to think normal/acceptable. However........safety first.......I am always concerned for the boys in outdoors "nudity" situations such as these.......dangling bits can get caught in all sorts of places by the........well.....careless. And imagine getting a melamoma cut out of......there....Yes! hope he was using sunscreen!

*snickers*

Hey, you look like a former roomate of mine!! :-D

Hey, you look like a former roomate of mine!! :-D

Who? Me?.....................looks around behind her.....

hey.......you're laughing..........err..................so is that ..........good............?

Yes, it is. Ute was a wee bit crazy but great fun to live with.

What I remember most is one day she practiced playing the flute. She didn't want to disturb us so she went to the back of the kitchen into the tiny broomcupboard/ recycling semetary.

I was really confused thinking 'Where the hell does that come from??? Then found her in that teeny space!

So sweet, bless her!

Ah....definitely not me in a former life then.

I am usually too grumpy to be sweet.

Although the thought of a nice quiet cupboard where I can hide does have it's appeal...... (1.45pm in the afternoon. Monday. At work. I am quite over it all at the moment......surely it is home time...?)

4 am in the morning and I'm trying to stay awake (as you might have noticed)

I have to say, you aussies are definitely always missing the drama that occasionally explodes in the Lounge. Our American CCers haven't even gone to bed yet.

yes......I do feel a tad deprived, at times, if I read back on what had been going on while I am asleep . Shame. It is sometimes invigorating to be embroiled in a nice juicy drama.

oh well.....one day.....sigh

In the meantime I live vicariously.......

Well, two weeks back I managed to put my foot in (again) into the gap between the two chats :-( Got a lot of flak for that - some of it justified, some of it not. Now I am reading everything two times if I'm posting in the vicinity of some CCers just to make sure it can't possibly be interpreted the wrong way. Very tedious that. And a kind of drama I can do without.

But the rest of The Lounge has kept me so well entertained in the past week while I was ill and while I ma more or less unemployed it more than makes up for it.

nakedness...i wittness this everday i go to the gym, women being butt naked and going in the hot tub

is this sanitary or normal at other people's gym?

im not talking about 1 or 2 people in the little circle hot tub,but like 5 shoulder to shoulder ewww

i cringe everytime i pass it..

How is it less sanitary to go in the hot tub without a bathing suit?  The water still goes everywhere and touches everything, whether it's covered by a bathing suit or not.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
