Summer Goals(READ)
I have a big motivational summer speech in my journal. It's about summer goals. I would have put this in the "Challenge" forum, but I think that is for fitness/diet related challenges. So, I'm going to put it here. I just want to say, I am not trying to spam you. If you do not want to read my summer goals then don't.
You can post your summer goals here, though.
So ... I've read your post.
What ARE your summer goals?
Alright, I'll join in:
1) Take sailing lessons to prepare for my retirement dream.
2) Buy a house and have a kick-ass housewarming party (the house closes in 2 weeks, the party will be on Canada Day).
3) Home improvements: Install Gyprock ceiling in the hallway, water seal the deck, paint the fence, install a dishwasher, run the plumbing for a possible future upgrade to a water and ice dispensing fridge.
4) Get laser vision corrective surgery (next week).
5) Visit my parents before they move.
6) Lose 10-25 lbs, then buy new jeans.
7) Be able to do 20 pushups in a row without tiring.
8) Paint and rust check the van.
9) Get laid.
Geeze. How you gonna have time for 9?
My goals are to save money like mad, get in better shape (even if I don't lose more actual weight), pay off medical bills and go camping at least twice.
For me, the significant difference between Summer and the rest of the year is that it's frakin' hot and the kids aren't in school.
So I guess other than normal everyday stuff, my primary goals will be keeping the kids from destroying the house and each other, while at the same time keeping them from turning into zombie couch potatoes.
I'd like to say that I'll get all the weeds out of our landscaping, or retain my sanity when we take the kids to Florida in late August, but one of my personal goals is to be more honest with myself, so....
I've got the weeds pulled already. I would have the painting and/or water sealing done except that there have so far been only 2 days without rain the entire month of June. Tomorrow's forecast? Rain.
I've also got to level out part of the back yard and dig up some stumps, but I don't think I'll have time to get around to that this summer, especially if the rain doesn't stop.
PS: To avoid confusion, I'm buying the house that I'm already living in. It's my parents house and I'm buying it from them so they can retire to the west coast.
Sorry, I forgot to post mine:
- Raead 3 non-fiction books a month before fiction to get a head-start in AP English
- Get a boyfriend (I know this is sounds shallow, but I'm 16, and I've never had a boyfriend. My dad makes lesbian jokes about me.) or at least go one a date. Ask "that guy" out.
- Get a J-O-B! I need money for rec field hockey and for a car.
- Get in permanent shape so I can play other sports w/o worrying about bein in shape
- Take an art class on drawing or media art. I'm an artist, but I never have time to draw.
- VLOG! I really wanna start one on youtube and a bunch of other sites.
- Become organized for the hectic school year to come.
- Be able to run 3 miles w/o stopping
1) Read as many books for pleasure as I can.
2) Save the money I need to pay my fall tuition and at least half of the money for lasik surgery.
3) Write the first draft of my thesis.
4) Start searching for jobs so I can decide where I'll be living after graduation (back to US, still in Seoul, Bangkok or Philippines).
5) Exercise 4-5x per week.
6) Lose 20-30lbs.

I am not trying to discourage you, but exercising 4 to 5 times a week sounds a bit severe. I find it hard to exercise 3 times a week. However, if you want some tips you should join a recreation team. Your in college, right? Some of my older friends play on teams whether it be for flag football, basketball, soccer, tennis, or field hockey(my personal favorite). I think a team provides a lot of motivation.
