Tempur Pedic Knock-offs

Quote  |  Reply

I have personally experianced a tempur-pedic mattress before and I thought it was awesome.  Unfortunately I cannot afford to buy one now, but I feel that the memory foam would really help with my back.

So I have been thinking about investing in a knock-off brand memory foam mattress topper.  Not the cheap $40 walmart knock-off.  More like the serta ultimate 4inch, 4lb support, memory foam mattress topper (see link below).

So have any of you had a good or bad experiance with a mattress topper before?  Should I cough up the $200 for it?

I haven't used a mattress topper.  But your mattress is pretty important in determining how you feel when you wake up, so it's worth it to get it right.

I guess I would do a cost-benefit analysis and product review research to see if the topper makes sense or if I should save up for the real deal.

My major questions (like yours):

  • How does the topper feel - does it feel the same as the real mattress?
  • What is the expected life span of the product - how quickly will the topper wear out?

With a mattress, you know you're going to get at least 10-12 good years out of it - what is the per year cost of the mattress?

I had a 1" serta memory foam mattess topper for several years.  I loved it.  The onlt problem is that because it was just a topper, I could still feel all the bumps and dips.

But I finally bought a new mattress and I bought an 8" memory foam one.

OMG - I LOVE IT!  Its a bit akward to roll over at first.  But I have had no trouble with my arthritis or back aches since.  I bought mine at a local chain furniture store and paid about $500.  Worth every penny.

What was the exact make of mattress that you ended up buying?

As for the lifespan of the mattress, that depends on the use.  I think most people get anywhere for 5-7 years.  But seems how I used to usually only get 4-5 hours of sleep, I figure I would sleep on it about half as much in a 5-7year span as the average person.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
