My Co-worker...

Can you go the more direct route? Instead of trying to drop hints, politely tell him that his music is way too loud and isn't conducive to your working habits, and that you need him to shut it off or leave. Hopefully he'll leave then you can flip him off when he walks away. LOL

I said something to the beyotch in the other room one day about how rude it was. I think she said I was bitching about it. So now he's turned it down... but he still listens to it.
yeah see listening to his music sans headphones is just plain RUDE.

the fracked up part... He has an ipod too.
I am a Lady GaGa fan. I sing and dance to all sorts of music...in my own space! It is very rude to do it in someone elses space without permission!
it sounds like its "his office"
At first I would be just like you, make snide comments or give looks. However, if he is doing it often I would get frustrated beyond the point of no return and say to him, "excuse me, I know the file cabinets are in here and your office has no room because of your mess, but this is my office now and I'm trying to work. Either put earphones in and stop singing/whistling or leave." It seems harsh, but its harsh in a sorta nice"ish"way, and he can NOT miss that signal!"
