Wendy's "Meatatarian" Commercial

Quote  |  Reply

...thoughts?  I'm guessing most people have seen the Wendy's ad's where the guy refuses to eat a salad because he's a meatatarian.

Even though I think they're poking fun at vegetarians/vegans, I'm still somewhat amused by how ridiculous the commcercial is.

One could always turn off the TV.

I vote for this answer!   Better yet, SELL the TV!  Laughing

Haha whenever that comes on I say to my hubby "kabloooomshhhhh- that's the sound of that guy's arteries bursting."

I think it's silly and ridiculous but it doesn't really offend me or anything like that.

Check it out - truth is stranger than fiction!

THEY GOT YOU TALKING ABOUT IT! DON'T THEY?

It amuses me. But I think it's dumb. They're trying to reach out to the "normal" people, the ones who think all vegans are scrawny, thin, and are hippies. :/

Lettuce doesn't scream when you kill it, or take its seeds away from it, or break its leaves from being over crowded.

Lettuce doesn't clog up arteries with saturated fat, it's not loaded with dangerous antibiotics and hormones.

The Amazon isn't cut down so people can grow lettuce. :|

You bring up an interesting point.  The guy on that commercial isn't exactly the muscle-bound, burley guy you'd expect to make that kind of statement.  He's just a small to medium framed guy.  I'm sure that's not by coincidence, but it's completely different than the Carl's Jr. (aka Hardees) commercial someone else pointed out.

There is little truth in advertising.  Obesity is a serious problem in the US and we're quickly exporting it throughout the globe.  Yet, fast-food commercials mostly show masculine men, and slender beautiful women.  I want to see a big ol' gut hanging over the beltline on the beer commercials.

I enjoy my cow, chicken, and pig alive and happy.

But I guess that's the scrawny, thin, hippy in me. ;)

That commerical did make me smile, I admit. I remember saying to my husband that meatatarians would die from a heart attack.

But I've only been a vegetarian for like 3 days. ._. (and I love it)

I was never a fan of beef.

That is so disgusting.

Wow...  When I was a meat eater, I liked my steaks rare.  But this is  just cruel!

i enjoy my cow rare my chicken barbqued and my pig smoked....

its only a commercial..... if you take offense to that then you have to much time on your hands...

get in the gym work hard and you can eat anything...

i have lost 70lbs since january and havent passed up a good steak a piece of chicken or some smoked hog....

life is to short people...enjoy it!!!

i would rather eat meat then vote for OOOOObama!

How did you equate this commercial with a presidential candidate?

If you read any of the responses, nobody was offended.  Some thought it was witty.  Some thought it was stupid.

And if you had 70 lbs to spare to begin with, I don't think I'll take health advice from you.  Tongue out

I think it is stupid.  Meatatarian!  Give me a break.

I also hate Wendys.  Square burgers=gross, plus they taste horrible.  It is the only thing open at night within walking distance from the hospital I work at, so I drive to Taco Bell or the grocery store instead.

I also don't think all vegetarians/vegans are scrawny, thin or hippies.  I work with some fat vegetarians.  I guess they should put the cakes and cookies down.  LOL

so just because i lost 70lbs makes you think i dont know about nutrition?     are you old enough to know circumstances create different situations..

obviously you have no idea what hard work and knowlege it takes to lose 70lbs.

you have just insulted at least half the people on this website.      & nbsp;      &nbs p;    people come here for support, guess you never had a weight problem.

you saying:

"And if you had 70 lbs to spare to begin with, I don't think I'll take health advice from you. "

shows you are a cold and callas person who has no sense of humanity...

grow up!

It was a joke, hence the smile.  Chill.

no worries then...

my obama comment was also a joke... i was listening to the news as i was typing and they were talking about him...

i am just glad they werent talking about anything really bad..Sealed

have a great weekend...

i thought it was funny, i'm a vegeterain myself, but not one of those people who freak out about their beliefs when someone asks about out haha (not saying that everyone/anyone is, i just know some people who are lol). but it was in a way poking a little fun about those vegetarians/vegans that like freak out about it and start getting self-rightous about it- when i first saw the commerical i laughed really hard haha Laughing

As a Vegan, I find it VERY offensive.  They are trying to create a "gimmick" in order to encourage people to eat more meat and declare themselves "meatatarians".  They ARE poking fun at vegetarians and vegans... and I can just picture how many stupid guys are out there saying their "meataterians". Every time I see that commercial I want to scream, "Your committment to killing". It just upsets me that they are making fun of our commitments and choices to value an animals life.

I thought it was funny but also gross, yuck imagine eating all that meat. Even when i did eat meat i never ate Wendys or Mcdonalds or any of those fast food restaurants but i remember seeing those wendy sandwiches with 3 big slices of meat, GROSS! bUT I actually laughed at the commercial

I don't like the commercial because the burger looks disgusting. And it plays ALL THE TIME. It drives me crazy. One of those sandwiches has over 800 calories and over 1800mg of sodium. I'm pretty sure that guy is going die soon.

They're pretty good though. I had my once-a-year the other day. After that my arteries need a good snaking, lmao. Those of us who enjoy meat and just see these threads pop up will reply here, and some of us enjoy meat to the point that we can joke about being "meatitarians". It's a joke.

I think some people take things way too serious sometimes.

You do realize that a "meatarian" would be a carnivore and therefore would only eat meat... get real...

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
