LOCKED TOPIC
2500 + Calories only - Weight gainers, what did you eat today? March 8th - March 23rd
Thought I would, on behalf of NYC girl, start a nice fresh thread now in March :)
RULES:
- Do not post here if you are not reaching 2500+ calories (3000+ for adult men). We strongly recommend 3000+ to gain.
- Teens must reach 3000 a day minimum
- REMEMBER TO EITHER POST THE CALORIE TALLIES OR THE PORTION SIZES!
- Also remember I do not support you using alcohol as a calorie substitute. So if you reach 2500+ with alcohol in your diet, eat a little more to make up for it.
- If you are struggling to reach the necessary amount (and everyone has at some point) then please post a separate thread w/ questions.
- Do not post links to your personal blog.
- No partial meal plans. Only post complete daily intakes.
--------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------
This thread is for those of you looking to actively gain weight for whatever reason.
Requirements- If you are a male you need to eat at least 3000 calories, females must eat 2500-this is so that your body can begin to now only gain weight, but also for your internal organs to begin to recover, this takes fuel/calories.
It is NOT suggested that you excercise while underweight. Excercsie is often an addicition seen with those with eating disorders. Try to stop cold turkey, IF you excercise, 2500/3000 is NOT enough. You are only harming yourself+prolonging the illness by excercising.
If you are struggling to reach the necessary amount, and we all did, then please post a seperate thread w/ questions. It is harmful for ppl to see posts that are under the food reuirement amount. There are suggestions on this forum regarding higher calorie+denser foods that should be incorporated to aid in reaching calorie goals
Reason: Locked, new thread: http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-only-please-weight-gainers-eat-ft195068

amazing job everyone! mashed_tatties I'm glad you are able to enjoy home food! muchlinski that is great news - I'm so proud of you, you trooper! day two of 4000 cals and i'm stuffed. welcome crazy247! And annaattackk don't stress about the restaurant experience.. eating out is hard, especially a buffet! (haven't personally been to one in years) Take it is a learning experience if at all possible, and remember that tomorrow is a new day :)
day two of 4000 cals and already stuffed. muchlinski you're amazing :)
B: 1 c protein plus cereal, 200 ml full fat yoghurt, 1 c blueberries and strawberries, 1 1/2 c soy milk, 1 c OJ
S: 2 ensure
L: 3/4 c brown rice w 100g tofu, stir-fry veggies & 1 tbsp evoo salad dressing; 1 apple w 1 tbsp almond butter, 1 1/2 c soy milk, 1 c juice
S: 2 ensure
D: 1 ww-flax wrap (fear food for some reason.. ) filled w 1 large chicken breast, 1/6 avocado, lettuce, tomato and grilled veggies; 1 1/2 c soy milk, 1 c juice
S: 1+ c madagascar vanilla bean fro-yo, 6 dried apricots, 15 honey multigrain pretzel twists, 1 1/2 c soy milk, 1 c juice
glitterandsprinkles - i kinda feel stuffed just reading your eats (which kinda hurts 'coz i'm already stuffed from my own), but they are all amazing choices!! Yummo!! Are you counting cals at all? I'd just be curious to know what that amount roughly equates to as I'm pretty keen to get that much awesome food in daily myself (while i'm gaining and have permission to..... and perhaps after that too!)
muchlinski- awesome news!!!
Today is day 4 and yesterday was day 3 and I fell off the wagon already, but NOT by choice!! Went on a spur of the moment trip outta town with minimal access to food. I made sure I did something awesome for lunch though and got pizzapizzaPIZZA!! Didn't make cals but didn't have any ED thoughts either so yippee!
I can't stop eating today and I think its because I missed so much yesterday! Its a bit scary having this much appetite but my tastebuds are LOVING it.
I was sooooo terrified to tally up my cals 'coz I've been that carefree with my eating, aiming for the highest amounts possible to make up for yesterday (plus I know the week ahead I won't be home much so I won't have such easy access to food all the time, stockpiling now)... buuuuut curiosity got the better of me (naughty me!) and i did. Wow, those numbers just kept on-a comin'!!
B: Oats, soy milk, apple, raisins, sunflower seeds, coconut chips.
Small slice (but thick) multigrain sourdough w/peanut butter.
Then decided i was STILL hungry and STILL craving PB so i had some totally nutty amount straight from the jar.... I'm guessing like 7-8 more TBSPs. Yikes! I AM making up for yesterday though!!!
S: Bowl of yogurt, puffed rice, frozen blueberries and honey. (Everyone needs to try this combo, it looks a lil' something like THIS: http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i133/llama_ on_film/ba.jpg
3 small (but thick) slices multigrain sourdough w/ hommus.
L: Lamb cutlet (smidge bigger than palm sized), roasted sweet potato (lots), garden salad (everything totally coated in evoo)
Milo Mousse container (decided to be brave and have some processed sugar, so far so good, no binge. Tasted amazing, and the texture... god how I missed that texture!!)
S: Ricotta (cup or more) w/ wild blueberry spread (about 2 TBSPs)
D: Soup w/ salmon, broccoli, carrot, green beans, potato and rice.
Slice multigrain sourdough (fresh loaf - proper size!!) w/ tahini.
An orange.
S: HUMONGOUS chunk Halvah (I'm thinking 450cals worth). And then a bowl of cereal to try and shut my stomach up. Wouldn't stop!! Brings me up to near 5000 cals. Faaaaark. Looking at that I realize an average day in my life a couple years back could easily have been upwards of 6000 - 7000, PLUS excessive boozin' 3 days a week. No wonder I got so chubby... I'm just surprised that's ALL I got!! Well I'm older'n'wiser now... Maintenance is gonna be a lot of fun I think!! :)
My camera's on me at all times for class so here's a snack I had the other day. I really wasn't keen for food, but knew I had to eat, and this made it that bit more enjoyable: http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i133/llama_ on_film/snack.jpg
UGH... My stomach JUST. WON'T. QUIT!!!
Soooo add more bread to that list. And I think I'm gonna go polish off the leftover sweet potato. Crazy crazy crazy times.
llamapow You seem to be doing fantastically yourself!! I try not to count but roughly have around 500 breakfast. 600 lunch and 600 dinner and 250-300 for each snack. I know that if I stick to that then even if I have an EDish day I wont drop under 2500. And as im learning in recovery, going over is not a problem. I also am trying to have less ready meals in my plans as they are a real trigger to make me restrict and count! The more fresh food I have I tend to go for portion sizes to guide me as its easier!! So i look at the suggested servings and get my mum to help me which is invaluable. She will do a teaspoon of something roughly, I will measure a tsp but level it off and try to get it exact! I find the less I think about it the easier it is to loose control! BTW im loving your piccies!
Keep up the good work guys, will post eats later!
Guys I just wanted to let you all know that your support and encouragement has meant that absolute bloody world to me, not only over the last few months but in the two or three years I've been posting here.. I came here at a sub-14 BMI thinking I was 'fine' because I'd gained, and since then have gained so much, not only in terms of weight but health, vitality and happiness. I'm not quite done with my weight gain journey yet and don't worry, I'm not stopping, but I'm nearly there. For the foreseeable future, I'm not going to post here any more... Not because I don't like it any more, or because I don't think I'll miss you gyus like crazy but because I need to stop the focus on food - the waiting for the next meal, planning, counting. I need a break, y'know? And I need to make food less important in my life. I want to start listening to my body a bit more, eating to live.
Like I said, you guys mean so much to me, and I'm so proud of every single person who's posted on this thread - past and present. Keep up the good fight, I can feel I'm so nearly there and it's so, so worth it.
good for you mashed. i wish you the best :D
breakfast- two ww waffles; one topped with 1/8 cup real maple syrup (soo much better than the fake stuff :P) and thinly sliced apples and cinnamon, the other topped with 1/8 cup syrup and a whole egg, sounds gross but so yum! and the rest of the apple on the side, and i enjoyed a mug of coffee with 4 tbsp of half and half with truvia
lunch- 6 amy's organic bean and cheese bites, 6 amy's organic spinach bites, cup of milk with strawberry flavoring added, 1/2 blueberry muffin larabar, and a box of raisels
snack- honey greek yogurt, apple, raisels, and a cup of strawberry milk
dinner- two big slices of pizza (will update the flavor later) and a small side salad with dressing (will update this later) kinda scared to eat this but hey i have 5 pounds to gain so let's goooooooo!
snack- organic wild blueberry scone, tea with milk, and another apple
:)
i put a smiley face there but i know at the end of the day i will be FREAKING OUT!!!!!! so wish me luck guys! it's so hard knowing i am at a healthy weight and gaining MORE, gah, but i need this. my brain and body are starving for food and nutrients. i can't believe i upped my cals by 1000 in one day. go me! hahah

Hey everyone! I've had a really really rough couple of weeks ED wise - my family all think I am fine at the weight I am (5'4 and 90lbs) as I am small framed and 'carry it well'. Well ED barged in and told me to stop this gaining business so I am so ashamed to say that I have restricted quite a bit this last week. Secondly, I find it so so hard to gain at uni as I'm not completely settled here and the 'routine' of lectures is so different to home. Gahh...so basically thats why I've not posted recently :(. You are all so so brave and amazing, I really feel quite weak in comparison. Anyway, as of this afternoon I gave myself a talking to (in the mirror like a saddo) and am going to just GO FOR IT Eeeekkkk!! Have eaten probably double what i usually would this afternoon, hope I can keep it up and be posting again tomorow!
