Any gainers here?

I just thought it'd be cool if we could have somewhere to chat about the unique struggle of being young while gaining. Sorry if this has already been created :)

Anyways, we should start by getting to know eachother!

Why are you gaining? Recovering from ED

How much do you need to gain? 7 more lbs

So.... Ya. lol also I have a question about your eating. Do your friends think its strange? Cause mine definitely noticed when I went from 900 to 4000. What are your expereances with this?

reasons: one scary word Anorexia :(

How much more: Doc says i need 10 more pounds to put me at 110... but i  want more i want to go to the weight i was pre-anorexia so about 20 or so more pounds. :)

yeah my friends notice i eat Alot they call me "fatty" some times but it done bother me actually. NO one knows i have anorexia except my doc and mom, not even my dad (i dont live with him). Im recovering all on my own (no money for nutritonist). But i am eatinh bettween 2500-3000 every day most of the time 2500 im sad to say. I need to eat more :l Give Me Strength haha.

and becbecl i feel the same way about my sis i worry about her following my horrible example.

aaah i know, today my eleven year old sister was complaining about how big her thighs looked and i was like...no, they look fine, honestly!  but i suppose you have to remember that it is probably not very likely for two siblings to both have anorexia. i hope :/

my sister is 12 and she hardly ever eats well when she douse eat its in the form of cheetos and cereal no joke that manly what she eats all day. Then she goes around saying her stomach looks "big" which it does NOT . I just hope its a phase.

My sister had anorexia too!

i have always wondered if eating disorders run in the family..

my cousin has an ED, and so does my aunt, all on my dad's side of the family.

me and my half sister both do. We both had the same dad, who was always on and off the same crash diets. So I think its both hereditary and due to environment

Just thought I'd chime in here..

I'm one of three daughters. Both of my sisters have eating disorders as well. (yeah, my parents are /so/ gifted. xP)

I've also read from various sources that you're 10-20 times more likely to develop an ED if you have had a sibling who has suffered from one. Not too sure how accurate that is, but it sounds like it's on the right track.

Im pretty sure it ed run in the familly cause my mom use to be bulimia. so disorded eatting totally got passed down (sadly)

Eating disorders have a genetic base so, yes, they do run in families.  However, I often suspect that people who have had eating disorders become hyper aware of the eating habits of those around them so it may not be as bad or out of the ordinary as you think.  My little sister doesn't have the best eating habits but I think I ate similarly when I was her age.

crazy... like no one in my family has ever had an eating disorder, so they all think im wierd.

back to the whole what is the best weight for someone at 5'6.5 im aiming for about 110 and my doctors think this is okay as long as i have periods...

wow only 110??? Sheesh Im only 5'6 and ppl were getting mad at me and saying that 117 was too low

110 lbs would be a bmi of 17.5, which is most definitely underweight.

120 lbs is a bmi of 19, still quite low for someone recovering from an eating disorder.

A bmi of 20, which is most beneficial to you, is 126 lbs.

Yeah my doc and m nutritionist have constant battles about my weight. My doc wants me to stay at 105 since I am healthy on the weight on the growth charts, and back to my old growth curve (35th percentile). My nutritionist wants me at 115 (BMI 19.5) at least, and would rather have me at 120-125. Everyone in my family likes me at my current weight, which doesn't really make me motivated to gain! My mom is like "Don't gain honey, you look perfect!" and I am like, ummm, what if they MAKE me gain???? Anyone else have this?

I'm one of three girls too...and the oldest, and so scared i've set a bad example!  Hw do your parents deal with having 3 with EDs?  Sorry, i hope that doesn't sound insensitive, i'm just interested.

Well, keep in mind, she is female, and it's normal for females to be lighter than males. To be honest, I find all those weights ridiculously low.. I was told no lighter than 135, and by many people to go even HIGHER! But as long as you guys are supervised by doctors, things should be alright. (Even though I do find many doctors to be very misinformed about ED's)

I definitely get what you mean.  My mom was the one who encouraged me to lose weight in the first place.  Nowadays she's always back and forth between "you look great" and "you need to gain weight" and it's confusing and annoying.  I kind of just need to tune her out completely.

how much more: my family tells me around 20 lbs (i dont know my weight)

is anybody else here only around 5"4? thats all i am and doctors want me at least at 125. with the disordered mind i have i feel i look fine now, but my family tells me i dont and some of my friends say the same. does anybody think that weight is too high because ideally they want me over 130? i used to weigh 220 and i guess thats why 130 would look great on me. i lost my period when i was 160 so im definitely not meant to be this small. its just stressful to see everybody here taller than me and their goal weight is the weight i am now. yet my hair looks horrible, some of my bones protrude, and i have no period. then again did anybody here lose over 100 lbs?

Hmm I guess I have quite a small frame because I've never been more than about 113 in my life and I was pretty healthy. I suppose I could get to 110, see how I feel and if it's okay then not gain anymore. Currently I have been getting compliments like you cutieda so I'm not very keen to gain much more. Also all my friends are really small :(

Well, you dont have to listen to me, but I'd say gain more... Especially after an ED its best to have a little extra. Let us know how it goes (although I suggest to listen to your nutritionist, since im guessing they are an ED specialist)

Spiritriser: Keep in mind that our society is VERRRRY messed up. Pencil thin is supposedly attractive. And believe me, your frame is no smaller than mine. Frame is measured by wrist circumference, (at least everywhere that i've seen it), and mine is only 5 inches

i have a super tough time gaining weight mentally. It's hard to watch myself put on fat and eat high amounts of calories. Anyone feel the same way? I mean, yes, anyone recovering feels the exact same way, but is there anyone who just... doesn't want the fat or too much muscle, just wants the weight? :) message me if you do please! i'd love to talk!

Hey, I'm Jaisy. I'm 21 and about to start my senior year in college as a pre-med student. I'm anorexic and I'm using this site as a tool to gain weight and recover. It's been really hard and ive been struggling with this disease since I started college in 2007. I'm 5"3 currently at about 88 pounds. My goal weight is like 105-108. Any encouragement or advice would be great. :]

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
