I'm not gaining weight but my face seems bigger!

Quote  |  Reply

I've been weighing myself everyday for the past weeks and I don't seem to be gaining any weight. NOT EVEN A POUND. But why does my face seem to be getting bigger/fatter? Is this normal? Should I still rely on the scale to see if I'm really gaining weight?

Yes, you still rely on the scale. Have you been eating differently of late? Foods with a higher sodium content perhaps? I know that my face always tends to get bigger when I eat more salty snacks.

yeah, this has happened to me too. It's really odd but it does have a lot to do with fluid retention I think. I was confused- why is it my face literally starts out bigger in the morning, then thins out through the day? But I wake up dehydrated usually, due to allergies and such. Once I down some water and such, it tends to even out.

Well I did start to add more carbs to my diet, but I added the "good" kinds like complex carbs (ie, brown rice) and I eat more protein, but more of fish and chicken. Are these food high in sodium?

What can I do to fix this problem? I mean, I dont want all the weight to go to my face :(

Mine's not a "within the day" problem though, it's more of I'm noticing my face getting bigger as days pass by. Lucky you though, at least you know a solution to yours. I don't know how to deal with my problem

any chance it could be all in your head?

I agree, I think it's all in the mind. Your face isn't getting bigger if the scales isn't budging. Please only go by what the scales says and don't let disordered thinking get the better of you and your gaining weight.

Could you have allergies or sinus problems? My face swells slightly on occasion (like now, because I'm congested). I absolutely hate it. And my eyerims burn when I blink and...ugh. Think it could be something like that?

If not, then it's just your imagination (not the good imagination, either, the annoying one that tells you that monsters live in the closet). Think of all the other lies that disordered thinking probably had you believing at one time. Are you gonna listen to that or what the scale (who's totally impartial) says?

antibinge and nycgirl, I've thought about that, that maybe it's all in my head but even my mom is commenting on how it's "good" that my face looks better 'cause now it has more "glow" and knowing her, that would mean my face is gaining more. I don't know, maybe it's really not that bad. I should just shut this ED voice.

kotov_syndrome, Hmm, I don't think I'm allergic to anything, at least none that I know of. Maybe I should have that checked also. But you're right, if it's not the allergies, I should just listen to the scale more than my distorted guilt feeling towards eating.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
