Reviving the old thread

Another thing that really has high cals is tofu and tempeh believe it or not. Brush with oil and coated with crumbled nuts it us tasty and VERY high cal.

Also is it bad to eat like a cup of full fat ice cream because people on here are talking about frozen yogurts and not clogging you arteries but it that really a worry while in recovery?

Cutiedida, you are so right about tempeh. Many people, my family included, think that "vegetarian" options are always lower calorie, but actually tempeh has about 220 calories per four ounces verses chicken breast with a measly 110 calories. Twice as much - from a "soy" food. Hahah. I love tempeh toasted in a dry skillet and dipped into hummus.

zeb: tempeh can also be really good if you make a creamy spicy asian chili sauce. You can use heavy whipping cream and spicy chili oil. The chili oil has just as much cals as olive oil but makes it super yummy and spicy! And you prob know about heavy whipping cream. You can also use creme fraiche if you prefer a lighter taste.

Yeah I know  my family considers some really high cal things to be "diet" food. Like granola. Somehow they think that granola parfaits are like weightloss foods. And YOGURT! FULL FAT! ANd wraps. Most times wraps have more cals than bread because they are pretty thick and you can put more in them.

I add that to the list:

  • Tempeh
  • Tofu
  • Wraps

does anyone know of any good high calorie yogurts or some weight gain powders (besides the obvious whey protein ones) i could use to add to all my foods? Im looking for something i can add but cant really taste once its in there.

Ive also heard of adding powdered malted milk to foods? has anyone tried this?

thanks

muesli with added nuts and raisins - like 800 calories in a reasonable sized bowl!

i have a huge bowl of harvest morn fruit muesli for breakfast every other day :D its 329 calories for 100g and i have like 3 handfuls so that probabley about 800 calories. no idea what the 30g portion looks like :L does anyone though? yeah i think muesli is great, eat it with a banana and you could be consuming between 500-1000 calories depending on your portion.

its good for me to eat it for breakfast because if i dont then i struggle even reaching the 2000 mark, never mind 3000.

scones can be a versitile and high cal food (and healthy with nut and fruit add ins...right?)

I have been plowing my way through a box of Sunbelt banana almond granola.  Almonds and banana chips.  Very good stuff. 240 cals. for 2/3 cup serving

i think i eat like 1 1/2 cups on top of yogurt :-)

If your getting tired of ensures or boosts, or for whatever reason! I would suggest trying Orgain! Theyre basically like the "organic" version and theyre effin deliscious!! especially chocolate! I dont know if they have them everywhere, but i get mine at the vitamin shoppe :)
