rapid weight gain from anorexia recovery!! D; help!!

Quote  |  Reply

Hi there, I'm 15 (16 in June) and currently recovering from anorexia. My height is 159cm (5.2ft) and current weight is 45-46kg (99-101lb.) my highest weight is 48kg (106lb.) and my lowest weight is 39kg (86lb.) I've been eating normally again. Approx 1000-1500cal. Per day. However I've already gained 5kg (11lb.) over less than a week and im really freaking out. I thinking I keep gaining the chances of me relapsing are really high! ); Is this normal? Has anyone got any good tips? ESP methods that help relieve bloating because I'm getting that a lot and it's giving me insomnia. I already take laxatives. Any more tips? Comments? Thanks (: xx

Avacadoqueen is right, it is just water weight, this article will help to explain it:http://www.gwynetholwyn.com/blog/2011/9/13/ph ases-of-recovery-from-restricted-eating.html It also shows you the importance of eating the right amount of food, which for you, being under 25 is 3000+ eating this amount will lead to the best chance of a full recovery and a working metabolism Hope that helps :)

in no place is 1000-1500 calories "normal" intake, and it's about a third of what you should be eating to recover.

  • Get rid of your scale
  • Find some clothes at least 1 size larer than what you now wear (maybe 2 sizes) and cut the sizes out of everything you own
  • Understand that if you only semi-recover (recover to weight through not eating enough) you will not be recovered -- the ED thoughts will still be there and your body will still be craving food.
