Weight gainers! What did YOU eat today? August 16th -Sept 16th
Please make sure you thoroughly read and accept the rules before posting!
RULES:
- Do not post here if you are not reaching 2500+ calories (3000+ for adult men). We strongly recommend 3000+ to gain.
- Teens must reach 3000 a day minimum
- REMEMBER TO EITHER POST THE CALORIE TALLIES OR THE PORTION SIZES!
- Also remember I do not support you using alcohol as a calorie substitute. So if you reach 2500+ with alcohol in your diet, eat a little more to make up for it.
- If you are struggling to reach the necessary amount (and everyone has at some point) then please post a separate thread w/ questions.
- Do not post links to your personal blog.
- No partial meal plans. Only post complete daily intakes.
--------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------
This thread is for those of you looking to actively gain weight for whatever reason.
Requirements- If you are a male you need to eat at least 3000 calories, females must eat 2500-this is so that your body can begin to now only gain weight, but also for your internal organs to begin to recover, this takes fuel/calories.
It is NOT suggested that you excercise while underweight. Excercsie is often an addicition seen with those with eating disorders. Try to stop cold turkey, IF you excercise, 2500/3000 is NOT enough. You are only harming yourself+prolonging the illness by excercising.
If you are struggling to reach the necessary amount, and we all did, then please post a seperate thread w/ questions. It is harmful for ppl to see posts that are under the food reuirement amount. There are suggestions on this forum regarding higher calorie+denser foods that should be incorporated to aid in reaching calorie goals

Well imagine the other patients in the dinning hall, if you come in crying and freaking out it will upset them, the staff are probably just protecting them, so prove that you can control yourself around meal times, and youll be trusted to go back in :) If you act on, it will only confirm their concerns sweetie, belive me ive been there <3

Had the week off chocolate until today and to be honest, I felt much better for it (it contains dairy and I KNOW it triggers my intolerance at a low level)... BUT 1. I have a shed load still in the house to use up (got excited and bought in a variety over the past few weeks!)
2. It tastes good
3. I enjoy it :)
So am going to certainly use up what's in the house and then reduce it a bit once am on maintainance but probably still have some as it's tasty :)

Okay, so... first time posting in this thread! (Or, well, a "What did you eat today?" type of thread.)
It's not for today, but yesterday's total intake for me was apparently 3,739kcal according to the CC food log. I'm supposed to be eating 2,500kcal, I guess. I like to err on the side of caution? (Though erring on the generous side for portions is only a recent [and necessary] development.)
Breakfast: Liberté Méditerranée plain 10% MF yogurt with Kashi GoLean, fresh local blueberries, almonds, and cinnamon. (560kcal)
Midmorning snack: Green monster smoothie (301kcal) with two pieces of Silver Hills bread (220kcal) topped with peanut butter (180kcal) and raspberry jam (50kcal). Yes I'm aware I could eat something denser than a green smoothie. I do it only because I like the taste and nutrients.
Lunch: Kitchari (brown basmati rice mixed with mung beans, broccoli, and spinach, cooked in butter) (511kcal) and okra masala (okra with diced tomatoes and seasonings, cooked in butter) (147kcal). A simple mixed greens salad on the side (with tomatoes, cucumber, and red bell pepper; 79kcal) for nutrients, topped with extra virgin olive oil (180kcal) and raspberry vinaigrette (60kcal). The only full fat vinaigrettes in my area have soybean or canola oil - neither of which I'm a fan, so I buy the low calorie ones (no added oils) for the flavour and add my own olive oil. Is that bad? No, I never forget to add my oil, either.
Afternoon snacks (not together): Ensure Plus (380kcal; these things taste gross) and a Taste of Nature Brazilian Nut Fiesta bar (200kcal).
Dinner: Black bean burger (251kcal) with a white burger bun (120kcal; my mom bought these by accident instead of the denser, higher calorie whole grain ones), topped with Swiss cheese (60kcal), ketchup, a piece of lettuce, a slice of tomato, and a pickle. (I consider those condiments to have negligible calories, but plugged them into CC anyway; 15kcal.) On the side I had some tri-colour coleslaw topped with apple cider vinegar (27kcal) - I like vinegary, sour coleslaws and hate creamy consistencies, and have been that way since childhood! I munched on three huge carrots, too. Apparently (90kcal)'s worth. Never checked their calories before. Well, all the better that large carrots have calories.
Dessert: 1/2 cup serving of Ben & Jerry's Half Baked ice cream. (280kcal) That stuff is heavenly.
I'm not looking for criticism of modifications, just a way to keep myself accountable! And after totalling what I wrote here, I only got 3,711kcalories, so not sure where CC got those extra 28kcalories when I used their logging system directly. Oh well. I was still way "over" the number recommended to me by my physician!

I also noticed in the photos we took (now have only 1lb to go to a healthy BMI!!!) that I look just the same as before but healthy without the bones showing, as they still were when I was 16.6. It's reassuring and feels good that I am now starting to see a better image in the mirror, as well as feeling better in myself and enjoying my curves!
Spiritriser, I am delighted to see you posting again, and so so happy for you, that you have managed to gain a a little more of those stubborn last few pounds! Cakes sound delicious, too! I used to take Nutri-Sip/Shake/Juice(around 310kcals per bottle) and I hated them!!! But, they are there to help you, and they helped me get out of hospital, and lead me on my way here! :) Keep going, even tho it's hard, cause the result is soooooooooooo worth it!!! >.< Well done- your doing great! Oh, btw, your Desert sounds sooo good- ur making me hungry!(haha....well, you know what I mean xox)

Evening all! Well evening in the UK anyways! Thank you so much all of you for your support - it helps me so much when I feel that I am the only one rying to get better in here and I'm trying so hard not to get caught up in the awful comparison and competition to be the illest person on the ward. To read all your positive achievements makes me all te more determined to leave hospital so I can carry on my recovery at home in a slightly more joyful, less angst way! Yesterday my eats were a little more fun and random than usual as we had breakfast group when we get to eat different things to usual and I went to the hospital canteen for lunch:

Supper: Egg mayo sandwich, salad, thick and creamy starwberry yogurt, Pear and 250ml squash
Snack: Milky tea and twix
My big dilemma now is whether to up my mealplan more. I am gaining weight but to reach a bmi at which I can leave hospital will take several weeks and the negativity here is very hard to deal with when I want to be well so very much. The doctors have said that I can speed up the rate of my weight gain but I don't know if 1) I can handle it going up quicker than it is; 2) whether by doing it quicker it will not go on evenly; 3) how to do it so it is physically manageable; 4) whether it is better for the body to go slow but surely. Any thoughts would be gratefully received but if this is the wrong place to be asking for advice then I apologise and will edit the post.

jammiedoger- woww! ohmigod! if your eating 5000 you must maintain like at least in the low 4000s probably? woww haha well you do get to eat whatever you want!!(: and thanks so much!<3 sorry eating at school has been a stuggle! i know how you feel! it does make everything harder:/ but your still doing so well! i lovee how your food looks!! where are you from?? a lot of the things you eat look so cool to me because i haven't tried some! are you from the UK??
bath22_x- beth, your a star. a total star(: ahh great job listening to what you wanted and trying to get better!! ED is SO not worth it. i love how you had 5 tbsp pb!! i honestly eat at least 4 tbsp of nut butter every dayy! haha i just love it so much. pb, almond, cashew butters.. mhmm
mystery_girl- have you tried almond or cashew butter?? their super good!! today i went to whole foods and i got their 365 creamy peanut butter and omggg its like so good! it's just like.. peanuts and salt haha like other peanut butters but it weirdly tastes like the inside of a reeses which is SO GOOD.! but then again i think anything from whole foods is good.. haha i'm such a loser(: i love running and singing too! i take singing lessons and i really like it! yup! i'm from the US too. peanut butter on waffles is so much better than syrup in my opinion too! i had a waffle today for the first time in so long! yum!(:
so today i made so much progress, i just felt super motivated!! i upped my cals to 3500 AND tried a waffle!! i haven't had that since before ED!! ahh!

The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
