Advice please! Losing weight too fast?

Quote  |  Reply

Hello,

I just started using this website a week ago today and have lost 7.5 pounds thus far.  I read that losing more than 2 pounds a week is bad for your health and would like to know if I should be concerned.  I feel great.  Actually, I feel better than I have in a while.  I am just concerned about the rate at which I am shedding pounds.

Am I dropping pounds too quickly?  How much weight should I lose a week?  What are the consequences for losing weight at this rate?

If you just started losing weight the first month the scale will drop pretty fast atleast it did for me. Don't worry it was mostly water weight. Make sure you are eating at ur BMR and u should be fine. Most you want to lose is 2 pounds a week. If you lose weight to fast you will prob gain it back also have alot of stretch marks and loose skin.

The same thing happened to me too.  I started at 217 to 208 in 7 days and then gained a little back and started on the real bouncing around the slowly descending line that has been the last 11 weeks.  I have been working hard at it and am right at an average of 2 lbs / week.  So you are good.....

You can lose a lot of water weight when you first start out.  It should settle down soon.  Just make sure you are eating enough for your activity level and you should be fine.  :)  Losing a bunch at first is sure a great incentive to keep going!
