Quote  |  Reply
Hi everyone,
My goal is to get rid of 50lbs. Does anyone have a goal around that number, or already lost that much? How much time am I looking at to obtian this goal? It would be great to talk with someone in a similar boat as me! I look forward to your reading your posts!
Wat up?? yeah im new t C-C and tryign to lose like 50 lbs. myself. Im in 8th grade and im 13, and to add to that im a type 2 diebetic.  let me know somethin if you get any good advice! ill add u to my friends!! Good luck!
ina_jalil,

I'm in the same situation - where I'm in front of the computer all day. I just started making my workout part of my "work day" by working out at lunch and it seems to help in avoiding the fatigue factor and consistency issues.

I just come into work earlier so that I have a 1 1/2 - 2 hour lunch break so I have enough time to get in a good workout and shower. It's tough but I feel much better and I don't have to worry about it after work. I have had the issue of falling off the consistancy wagon because I have 2 kids and I have to sacrifice any workout time after work with kid functions.

I have got about the same to reach my personal goal.  So I am right there in the boat with you all.  I keep on asking myself "How did it get this bad?"  I am getting married soon so these pounds have got to go.  But it is hard to do when you are living on a college student's budget, working 25 hours a week and taking 18 hours in classes while also working at the student paper.  Any suggestions to make those 2 pounds go away each week, when you don't have the time to run to the gym and you have a hectic schedule?
stellawku - I felt the same way - absolutely no time to exercise. BUT, the truth was, I wasn't really looking closely for the time. Look at your schedule really carefully and thoughtfully and you might find something that works.

I'd been really bemoaning the fact that I didn't have time to do anything when I realized that I passed a park every day on my way to pick up my children from daycare after work. Not only was there a park on the way, but I also had just enough time to squeeze in at least a 30 minute run and still pick up my kids before closing time. I just had to change into workout clothes before I left work and there wasn't much room for error in time if I wanted a full 30 minutes. But it was there for the taking if I made the effort.

Since it's gotten cold and my children have changed daycares, I've had to get creative again with my time. Don't give up!! Keep looking and you will find workout time in your schedule somewhere.

Hello, My goal is to shed sixty pounds at five pounds per week at one pound a day. I hope that's not too aggressive for you. I'm healthy and am eating balanced meals to achieve my one pound per day goal.
Hello, My goal is to shed at least 45 pounds and although i wanted to start on the right foot for the new year i donot believe i have the willpower and at the moment listing to motivational tapes to get me started.  Anyone else in the same boat as me

One pound per day is probably too aggressive.  I want that to be my goal, too, but realistically, 1-2 pounds per week is the healthy way to go. Calorie counting, exercising and staying focused will make you successful.  When you set yourself a goal for one pound per day, and do not achieve it, then you will be dissappointed and may stop trying altogether.

At the beginning, it may seem like pounds slide off quickly, that is probably excess water...then the real work begins!

Hang in there, I have 47 to go and my goal is for August 11, 2007!

Good Luck,

Monica

I agree 5 pounds a week is too aggressive, the first few weeks it may happen but if you lose it to fast you will most likely gain it right back after you stop starving yourself.  Hope you lose the weight but you should consider taking it a little slower.

You said your healthy - everything that I've learned here says its not healthy to lose that fast.

I lost 50lbs in about 4 months.  I kept a daily food diary and did an hour of cardio everyday.

I'm looking to loose at least 18% body fat and be at a weight of 129 but the end of July.  Its a hard task but I think with great training, eating right and constant discipline on my part I can definately meet my goal.  I've been reading alot about how attitude has alot to do with our performance and if we have a negative subconcious then we are bound to fail. Therefore, encourage yourself to believe you can do it and that you deserve the body that you are working towards.  You can do it!!!
HI

I am also new to this site with a goal to lose 50 lbs.  I found it very hard to get started.  I spend about 6 days a week in the gym for an hour and a half at a time.  Since starting this regiment, I have noticed that the cardio helps me lose the excess fat, but the weight lifting makes me gain it back as muscle.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to prevent this?  Am I lifting too much weight?  If so, what is a good weight to lift (I typically use 8lb free weights)?  Good luck to everyone.
Yes, my goal is 50lbs off by the end of the year. I just started with CC and so far, so good! I enjoy keeping a food log and learning more about nutrition. Good Luck on your weight loss!

I am about to turn 21, and am looking to shed 50 lbs hopefully by sometime this summer.  I definitely am going to need some help and support though because I've tried before and made it a couple of weeks before I stopped trying, then gained back whatever I lost and more.  I started at the beginning of this year, and have already lost about 5 pounds.  It's nice to see that number going down.  Hopefully we can keep each other motivated to lose this weight together!  Hope to hear from some of you soon.
I'm new to the sight, also,! I have about 67 pounds to lose..  Over the holidays gained back 21 pounds...My heart goes out to the young ones that have diabetes and health problems..I am going to be 59 in March and retired because of health problems..but I remember loosing that 30-40lbs..how many times?..starving etc...... I am trying to journal everything I eat drink and exercise..the time and how I feel..love this journal on this sight..and the food log,  how great is that and the analysis..I have been reading about the metabolism rate..feel that is the direction to go in for me with the GI food incorporated + the negative food imput..there is so much information it is hard to keep it all straight..every two hours, under three hundred calories and lots of water..Like the idea of the weight in on wednesday competition..someone is counting on you too..but I have to admit reading all other stories and input has made me feel that I am not alone and can do this...THANK YOU...Enjoy talking to you..
I am 32 and after a couple of children I am less than fit.  I would lose the weight then in about 6  months start gaining again.  Well now I have all that pregnancy weight from both of the kids and 35 more pounds on top of all of that.  I need to lose 85 pounds.  I get so overwhelmed.  I eat to stay awake.  I eat because of stress.  I also just love food and not the healthy kind.... hence the weight.  : )  I am new to this site and this is my first posting.  I would love to help encourage and be encouraged.

acshelnutt,

Thanks for the suggestion. However, even if my lunch break is long, where i work is quite far from a gym or any workout place. It's probably around 20-30 minute drive to the nearest gym. So i need an alternative to this.

athena_tavener,
You say that go up the stairs when meeting someone..however my work has only 1 level and it's a small building. Other ppl are located in other buildings but the ppl I work with are in the same building as me. Do you have any other suggestions?

ina_jalil,

I'm not sure where you are but would you be able to take a walk around your office area during lunch? Some of my co-workers take advantage of the sidewalks going up and down the main road to get their walk in.

Just another thought...

    Hi All,

I started with CC in November but got off track. I am back now and have roughly 50 pounds to lose. A good friend of mine has asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding in August! I have never been motivated more by anything in my life to lose weight. I am determined to get this weight off in time for the wedding. I have 7 months and I know I can do this. I am down 1 pound so far this week. Hoping to lose 1 more before Monday. I have found that only by keeping track of every calorie that goes into my mouth can I lose any weight. I have finally committed to clamping down on the food and feel very motivated. I am exercising every day whether it is walking or my circuit training dvd.

It is encouraging to know there are others out there who understand what I am going through.  Thanks to everyone for just being there.
My total goal is 48.5 pounds.  My actual goal is 10 pounds less than the goal I stated on calorie-count.com.  I started Dec. 31 and I have lost 8 pounds so far.  I sit at a computer all day so I do not get exercise - I know I will need to get motivated to do this.  I eat between 800 and 999 calories per day.  I realize that I can only weigh myself once a week or get discouraged.  I had lost 30 pounds about a year ago but gained it all back as I was only eating a salad a day :-(  But this time I decided to do it right.  I will try to eat 3 meals a day but sometimes only eat 2 - dependent on whether or not I wake up early enough.  But I am not starving and choose to eat my heaviest meal at lunch.  I started my died by starving myself for 2 days to shrink my stomach.  Then I assumed a normal dieting routine.  I post on a website with my son and daughter in law (who are also on a diet) - the food I eat, calories, and fat content, and daily weigh-in (optional).  This helps me as well.  They live in Arizona and it is like we are doing this together - we can look at the website and see what each other is eathing and how much each other has lost.  I am also finding motivation on this site - there are so many people out there just like me - good to know :-)
Oh my - please forgive my typos above ^^^
died should be diet, eathing should be eating
duh
Stay motivated with inspirational articles

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
