Boost your metabolism naturally with this ZERO CALORIE Detox Drink. Put down the diet sodas and crystal light and try this out for a week. You will drop weight and have
TONS ON ENERGY! Sounds yummy!

Makes one big pitcher, re-fill water 3-4 times before replacing apples and cinnamon.

1 Apple thinly sliced (whatever your favorite is)
1 Cinnamon Stick

Drop apple slices in the bottom of the pitcher and then the cinnamon sticks, cover with ice about 1/2 way up then add water.

Has anyone substituted this over just plain water?  Thoughts?

It won't hurt you, but it won't do anything magical either. If it helps you drink more water, then I guess that's a good thing...

All of this is horse-poop.  I crossed out everything after "detox" because that word alone screams "we're just jumping on the fad bandwagon and don't really know what we're talking about!!!!! lol!!!!!!!"

The main part of this recommendation that DOES sound reasonable is "put down the diet sodas."

Any alleged metabolic improvements are more likely due to laboratory research conditions and environments...which do not apply in the real world in which the rest of us live. ;)

"Put down the soda, drink water instead" is the most reasonable advice but keep expectations in perspective.  Drinking cinnamon water isn't going to make a person suddenly wake up a week later 5 lbs. lighter, as all of these frantic recommendations make it seem (whether it's lemon juice, green tea extract, apple cider vinegar, goji acai raspberry concoctions, etc.).

Doubt it does anything special, but it sounds yummy :)

The only thing I have to add from what the other posters have said is that I have read Cinnamon can act as a natural appetite suppressant. Again, it's not a magic fix.

Yeah a thought, it's called apple tea or apple juice with water, not really new or exciting.  People have been drinking it for millennia.  Herbal teas come in all sorts of flavours other than apple and you can drink them cold.  Here's how:  Brew tea in a pitcher, let cool or add ice cubes, put in fridge.  Some tips as some teas go bitter when chilled (not apple really): don't overbrew the tea, don't use boiling water (80º C is enough), a little sugar goes a long way and stevia gets bitter if you put it in hot and cool it down.

I suppose if your hung up on the apple part there's a super easy way to make it.  Buy some apple juice (not sweetened) and add water.  It's pretty common practice where I live and on every restaurant menu.  Usually about 1 part apple juice to 3 parts water but I suppose you could add more water (therefore less calories).  You could even use sparkling water. It's pretty cool you can do it with other fruit juices too.

To be honest, I don't think you can call it a weight loss drink or even a fad (like I said people have been drinking it for millennia).  Nor do I know how it will boost your metabolism but all good alternatives to pop, sugary drinks and diet drinks.

That's not zero calories and this is ****

Well, unless you're eating the apples, yeah, it pretty much is nothing more than water.

But, as said, no magical powers, no detox action, nothing more than water with apples and cinnamon stick at the bottom (even if there were appetite surpressing powers in cinnamon, a stick would not invoke them).

This.

Personally, I associate the flavor of apple cinnamon with warm stuff, not cool, but I suppose this could be tasty. But I've never minded drinking water (I just have to remember to do it).

Oh god. Just exercise and eat a clean diet! None of this "metabolic speeding" water stuff that doesn't do a thing, except trigger your gag reflux!

I believe cinnamon also contributes to reducing insulin resistance, but the amount to really have an effect would be nearly a tablespoon of ground cinnamon. This is a fancy way of flavoring water so that you are more likely to drink it instead of "bad" drinks. But, keeping hydrated does help with weight loss, so it may "work" in that regard.

I think it would be better to make a hot tea-like concentrate first and then chill and fill with cold water to get the best flavor out of this though.
