this sounds silly, but it is something that has bothered me for years.  does stubborn armpit fat ever go away?!  even when my weight has fluctuated between 145-180, i have always had "pouches" of fat on my chest right next to my armpits that never seem to shrink down.  my roomate's late mother was a personal trainer and she always said, "just tuck it in and call it tit!"  so i'm assuming that's a particularly difficult area to lose fat/tone if she said that?  anyone with the same problem?

YES!  No matter how much I weigh or how toned my arms get I still have fat rolls in my pits.  I hope someone has a solution to this!

Weight lifting+cardio(to burn it off). Ever since I started body pump classes (however I'm not strong, at all!! The heaviest I can do is 8pounds...) my arms look and feel diferent!! Seriously, even when I0m showering and soaping the armpit (lol!this is for real), it's not soft and floppy anymore, it's hard and getting defined!
Cardio, as mentioned, and these exercises (make sure you have proper form and appropriate weight - ask for help if you aren't sure):

- push-ups (normal, or off bench or bosu)
- chest presses (off ball or bench, pressing up weights)
- pec-deck (equipment)
- chin-ups (you don't have to lift your whole body weight)
I love the pec dec and also cable crossover for chest exercise.  My friend always called this fat her xtra boobs

I find massaging that area can help work out some of the build up of fluids and fat.  Be gentle, though, because that is a sensitive area.
MAN do I feel you. I hope one of these works, I'd hate to gain a bunch of potentially unfeminine muscle for nothing... (well my own personal idea of unfeminine anyway)

Mine went away, granted I lost a lot more then the OP mentioned she loses/lost but under my arms now are hollow behind my pec. I have been doing tons of cardio and some pushups and other weight lifting.

It's one of the more pleasant surprises because I never noticed before that my armpits didn't go in. then they started too and I was pretty excited.I have a pic of me in a tank top where I look athletic now in part because of that.

So yes, you can lose it. Just keep working at it and doing cardio. It's fat there, if you lose enough fat that will have to go away too.

I have been thin all my life, between 105-110 lbs., and have always had that yucky armpit fat. I'm 21 now and still have the stupid armpit fat...I used to be really self concious of it during highschool and never wore tank tops that showed it off. Now I just tuck it in but I still dont like it. I do excercise, not regularly like I used to, but I still jog and jump rope and do my excercises on the big excercise ball. I dont know how to get rid of it and if anyone has any tips please fill me in.  Im an adult now and really want to get rid of my remaining baby fat : ) please help!

If you figure out how to gain a bunch of "unfeminine muscle" without the use of performance-enhancing drugs, let me know. It sounds fascinating. I've been lifting weights for 20 years and have yet to stop looking like a woman....

I thought I was the only one with fat in my armpit area! I have always been skinny and have always exercised but could never get rid of my fatty armpits! I call them my chubbers! I have always been self concious of them and have rarely worn a tank top or bathingsuit. I finally have had enough and am going for a consult with a plastic surgeon. Apparently its quite common and can be fixed with a little liposuction so we'll see! good luck but exercising won't completely get rid of them!

My pit fat is just weird. I started losing one arm pit's fat from carrying my portfolio around at school (it's that heavy) and now...One side is almost completely gone, while the other still has a little sag.

-67 pounds and what do I have to show for it? Lopsided pit fat. :/

However, from having one go away and what not, push ups and stuff like that seem  like really good tips. :)

Best of luck to you!

Hey, just had my consult and apparently this is quite common and easy to fix and the best part....its at no cost to me! I love Alberta Health care! Its done under general anesthetic in the hospital so its covered! go check it out so you don't have to be self consious anymore, I wish I would have went a long time ago! Good luck!

dear kimbking,

i am so excited to see that you went to someone in alberta, because that's where i live too! what city were you in? can you tell me if it hurts? My fat armpits have bothered me for years and i would love to get rid of them. i think they look like i have kiwis in my armpits. it's horrible. and i am active and excercise a lot!

question for everyone: do you also experience higher than average sweating from your chubby armpits? i have always thought i sweat more than normal.

You may have a condition called Hyperhidrosis- I do!!! It's dead wretched in the summer time, but I'm trying to just relax about it and accept it.  The more flustered I am, the more sweat gushes from my pores!  :(

I think you are probably right. I should mention that before, when i wore anti-perpirants, it seemed like they made me sweat even more. Then I tried that Adidas absorbant-deo stuff, which isn't an anti-perspirant, and it works about a million times better for me. I would highly recommend it, and I'm usually not one to be very "try this product!"

!!!!!!!!!!!!!PLEASE READ THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This may not be fat. I lived with your description since puberty. It looks like fat it's gross like fat but i don't think what you're describing is FAT. What I had was called ACCESSORY AXILLARY BREAST TISSUE! Many women have this problem. for 3% of women it is actually excess breast tissue! I just had a surgery in order to correct this genetic defect, it was outpaitent and fairly simple and not very painful at all. I know 3% doesn't sound like much but when you think about it that means that 3 out of every 100 women are diagnosed, i had doctors tell me i was fat, when i was in stellar athletic shape. Everyone has breast tissue in their underarms, but normally your body doesn't send that breast tissue the signal to grow the same way it sends that signal to your chest. Some womens body's send that signal to the breast tissue in their underarms (axilla) anyway. No matter how much you work out this will not go away any faster than your breasts will go away by working out because IT'S NOT FAT! Google "accessory axillary breast tissue" "supernumerary breasts in the axilla" it's generally not dangerous but for me it was very painful during my menstrual cycle. I was unsure whether or not my health insurance would cover it because it seemed cosmetic but the complications that can come later with pregnancy and breast feeding seemed to be enough for them and they covered the surgery for me with no battle. Please do the research, it's not well known enough. If this isn't your problem good luck with the weight loss but for MANY women this is an undiagnosed genetic defect that cannot be corrected by any amount of pushups or weight loss. I hope that this helps, good luck!

What kind of Doctor does this procedure? You may be right.. I so want to have this done.. What do they do to get rid of it? Thanks for sharing...

I'm with ruthie p!

Went to the doc about this problem, it was really painful under my arm during my menstrual cycle.

At first she suggested I lose weight to see if it was just fat, once I did lose a bit I went back to the doctor, and got a mammogram done. Confirmed it really was extra breast tissue under my arm!! Haven't got it removed as of yet, but i am considering it maybe in the near future.

So perhaps see your doc just to make sure.

I have the same problem and I know how upsetting it is. I'm not even that overweight but for some reason I carry all my extra fat in my armpits. It's disquisting and I do a good job at hiding it but I wish I could find a way to get rid of it. I don't know how much weight I'ld have to loose to finally loose it in my armpits & I really don't want to loose weight overall anyway. I am so upset about it that I actually considered getting liposuction but it's $2,500 which I can not afford right now. Does anyone know another way to loose extra fat in the armpit area?

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
