Weight Loss

I decided it was time that I invest in a good scale. I am trying to lose 1.5 lbs a week with exercise and healthy eating. Anyways, I purchased a digital scale at Target. I brought it home, set it up on a flat surface, and weighed myself. (Came in at 206.) I weighed a 5 lb dumbbell out of curiosity. It said it weighed 4.5 lbs. Okay.... so I weighed myself again, being careful to put my feet in the same spot I did earlier. Suddenly, in one minute I gained two pounds!

I am returning the darn thing tomorrow. I really hope Target lets me return it... Has anyone has a similar problem? Can anyone recommend an affordable scale for me? (Unfortunately, they don't have one for some reason at my gym.)

Thanks!

Did you have to put your own battery in or did it already have one?  Try with another fresh battery and see if there is still a variation.  If there is, return it.  I tested the one my mom has and it is accurate.  She got it pretty cheap at WalMart or something. It's called HealthOMeter.

I've tried a number of scales with similar results. I've tried scales of nearly every price range and they all seem the same.

I've ordered a scale from "Biggest Loser". $40 may be a good investment.

Has anyone any suggestions?

I don't use a digital scale myself, I own an older Taylor model but it's not very reliable.  I got myself a balance-beam scale instead, the old-fashioned doctor's-office kind.  Very accurate, super reliable, but also pretty expensive (around $150) and takes up more space.  But you never have to buy batteries for it!  I agree i got mine at walmart and it was like twenty bucks i believe that its health o meter pretty sure!!! It works great... and remember dont weigh yourself but once a day in the morning before eating and in your birthday suit to get the most accurate reading :)

Got this one last year and it's been well worth it! Love it - although I got it on sale for about $15.

If it sits on little pegs sometimes a few hairs or dust under one of them will throw it off a bit.

BUT I'm a splurger myself...so I say go get yourself a nice one, something you trust the value of, something that doesn't make you question your weight, because it's obviously very important right now to be able to keep an accurate measurement of your progress.

(except I bought mine for like 25 dollars from walmart and she is fantastic)
