which is best? exercise before or after dinner?

Just a question I'd like to know.. Is it better to exercise before you eat your dinner or after?

I used to have dinner around 5ish and then exercise about 7 and found I was losing weight faster (or was I?) But now because I have changed what exercise I do I now exercise at 5ish and eat dinner around 6... I have found my weight loss has slowed.. But then I dont know if its because of the changed of dinner and exercise that I've slowed down or wether its just because im now 4 weeks into my new life style...

which is best? exercise before or after dinner?

An gym instructer told me that if you exercise before dinner, you work of the calories from the day, however if you exercise after your dinner - you work off the calories that you have just eaten.

I think that the best advise is to do what works for you!

Have not read the articles, but from experience I feel sick or get a stitch when I exercise after food.

entersandlady>> Interested in where the instructer is coming from. Food you eat will be stored as fat if you do not burn them (in simple terms), so it would not matter what fuel you burn.

Burn the food you just ate, and it does not become fat.

Burn the fat and then eat to replace.

Where's the difference instructer?

(This is put simply, and not a true reflection of the real mechanics to fat and food storage :)    )

I like to exercise before dinner, again, because usually I'm too tired afterwards (don't feel like going anywhere or doing anything) and because a meal right before I exercise is way too much for me. It makes me feel sick.

However, I'm also usually hungrier after I exercise, so make sure that your portions aren't outta control! :-)

Also, your body wants food after exercise so that it can rebuild the muscle fibers you just broke down. Otherwise, exercise will cause you to lose muscle mass, which isn't such a good idea in my book. I'd rather eat something, and have my muscles use it than eat something and get it stored as fat... :-)

I think you should pick whenever YOU want to exercise.

if you feel like it, GO FOR IT!  Hey, at least you are moving!!!!

actually is better to do exercise first thing in morning before eating breakfast, however i find it easier to do it after dinner since like that i don't feel like the exercise was useless i mean , why exercise burn calories if you going to eat again, right? so i choose to do it either first thing in the morning or after my last meal. hope this help

Even though it isn't really the way it works, this is still a pretty neat way for me to work in some exercise after dinner but before dessert :)  eat - exercise - eat to replace muscle fiber.  Ice cream and muscles FTW :)

I exercise according to my schedule and comfort level.  Breakfast is my lightest meal and so I exercise about an hour afterwards.  I may do something active in the afternoon, like dancing, before dinner.  Sometimes on the weekend I may do an exercise dvd before dinner.

Dinner is my heaviest meal and while I'd like to dance/do aerobics afterwards, sometimes my stomach doesn't settle until after 8.

Another benefit for me to working out in the morning is that I tend skip the morning coffee.

I always excercise in the morning before breakfast otherwise I get a stich if if i wait 2 - 3 hours it seems. Alsoo I like to excercise as early in the day as possible as I here its supposed to help rev up my metabolism. I know this isn't always possible for some ppl tho.

I would go for before the meal myself but that just my preferance I dont think it matters tho do what feels best for u.
