help...i shave my bikini area and as always, i get the 'stubbles' that really irritates me...what is the most effective way of not getting them? does shaving really produce that? i dont wanna resort to those permanent hair loss treatments which will spend me grans...i just wanna be comfortable seeing the area clean and itch-free...it becomes a little itchy when the hair starts to grow...arrggh!

use lotion. no soap, no shaving cream or gel, only lotion and water. Use conditioner if you run out of lotion. Do this on underarms too - no bumps, no irritation.
and keep rinsing off the blade like after every couple swipes.
thank you so much! i'll certainly try that. :)
your welcome :)
One word: WAX.
Well ok, two words: PROFESSIONAL WAX
ouch!
plus, you have to let it grow a while before waxing dont you?
yep! i think waxing is really neat but it scares the hell out of me...try seeing Miss Congeniality. haha...but thanx for the advice!
waxing is really great.  You do have to let it grow out a bit the first time you do it but less so each following time.  The hair tends to grow back finer over time too.  Beware the first few times make you want to scream profanities at the nice waxing lady.  'Don't worry they are use to it  lol
Lotion, Lotion, lotion.... And um. If it's horrible. Such as you have irriation, that is itchy and bothersome due to shaving/ stumble. My doctor said you could use a tiny bit of Cortizone on it.

It actually helped. Hope that's helpful to you, good luck.
Waxing does hurt a a bit (especially the first time) but it's a momentary sting that disappears. If you don't go whole hog and only get the bikini line it's more tolerable. And each time you go the pain gets less and less and the hairs get softer and less noticeable. It's the best $10-15 ever spent.
Lotion sounds like a great idea, I'll have to try that.

Another trick is exfoliating....before, after, and in between shaving.  This helps to prevent ingrown hairs.
There is a product called Bikini Zone that you apply after shaving.  It has worked wonderfully for me.
Yeah see I went Brazilian my first time around and holy crap did that HURT really bad.  I have three tatoos and waxing hurt more!!!  However I kept getting the brazilian anyway cause I am not going to let my bikini area be the boss of me lol!!!!!  It really does get better
One word!! WAX! Try it! You'll love it! =)
There is a powder called Magic Shaving Powder which you can buy at a dollar general or some drug stores.  It is a hair remover that is meant for black men's beards but works great on the bikini area.  You use it without a blade.  It leaves everything soft and smooth - no ingrown hairs and no bumps.  follow this ebay link to read about it.  And no, I don't sell it, just think it works great.

Save up your pennies and have laser treatments!

I love it!
I use a sugar gel which is made of sugar and lemon juice. It is used exactly like wax except for two things: it doesn't stick to your skin as badly, and you can WASH IT OFF if you make a mistake.

I use Shobha brand but there are several kinds i believe. Shobha also sells denim strips to go with their sugar gel; since it's water soluble you can wax with denim strips and put them in the washing machine with your laundry and reuse them.

Of course this means you have to do it yourself, but with practice it isn't bad.
I used to get razor burn and it drove me nuts. Now I find that if I have a shower as hot as I can stand it, and shave after being under the really hot water, my body is sooo smooth. Having a really hot bath works great too - no razor burn!! I love it :)
Bikini Zone absolutely works, but it smells kind of bad.  I use a little battery powered razor that doesn't cause ANY bumps!  It doesn't last as long as a shave or a wax, but it's faster, safer, easier, and causes zero irritation.  You don't have to worry about cutting yourself!
