Just binged on a half gallon of ice cream

Well, I was doing great and havent binged in about 2 weeks. I know I didn't have enough to eat today so I decided to have some ice cream. I ended up eating very little of it and deicieded I wanted some real food cause I was hungry. I searched through the kitchen and found NOTHING. All my snack foods were gone. My carrots, fruits, other veggies, cereal ect. I decieded to continue to have some more ice cream, and more, and more, and even more. I couldn't control myself anymore. Now bassically the whole half gallon of ice cream is gone. ****. I really hope I don't gain any weight. I am guessing there is around 1200 calories in that whole thing. And then I added in todays meals so thats around 2200 calories total. Like I said I know I underate today. Thats what causes my bingeing I realized is when I undereat. So now I don't know what to do besides sit here. I guess tommorow is another day. Do you guys think I will gain any weight?

2200 calories total is probably your maintenance level anyway, or maybe SLIGHTLY more so if you gain anything it will be negligible. i wouldn't doubt it if you gained water weight and bloated from the milk but it should go away within a few days. don't worry about it because taken together 2200 calories for 1 day is not going to kill you.

Just a tip that is helpful for me, but when I decide to indulge on something sweet like ice cream or cake, I dish out a small portion, eat it very slowly to savor it, and then brush my teeth or chew some minty gum immediately when I am finished.  I find that the sweet taste lingering in my mouth makes me want to eat more, and sweet foods taste terrible if you eat them with a minty mouth, so it works to kill cravings.

Depending on the type of ice cream, I'd hazard a 4500kcal guesstimate to be safer. Not to scare you or anything, but maybe hitting you hard with the facts can help. It did help me, after all.

1200?  Ah, no.  16 half cups of ice cream in a half gallon, at about 140 cal per 1/2 cup = 2240 calories.   Sorry.

That's genius!!  Thank you so much for this tip.  I love love love sweets but the tasts does always make me want more.  I love that idea of brushing your teeth because a minty mouth makes everything bad.  Or maybe I'll have gum if i'm on the go!  Thanks for that tip, it's great!

Also, now that the ice cream is gone, maybe don't buy it again until you have your binging under control?

Also, try not to run out of healthy foods in the future.  Make some vegie soup, freeze it in serving size portions.  That can be zapped in the microwave for a few minutes, takes a little time to eat, and is pretty satisfying.  I also like to keep cottage cheese, plain yogurt, dried fruit, frozen fruit, frozen vegetables, frozen whole grain bread on hand for "emergencies" when I haven't been to the grocery to stock up on fresh foods.  Good luck!

Tomorrow is a good day to start over.  One 'oops' here and there is not the end of the world.  Remember, 1 lb = 3500 cals.  It's only around 1 lb that you either gained or didn't lose... that's only 1 weeks worth of loss if you do nothing but get back in the swing of things.

Better than doing nothing, try to make up for those calories you overdid over a 5-7 day period... let's say you realistically took in 3500 calories on your 'oops' day... that's about 1000-2000 calories extra this week.  Try to burn an extra hundred at the gym per session, walk 1/2 hour extra per day, or eat 100 calories less a couple days out of the week.

This thing is easy... really.  Don't let one bad moment here or there get you down.

I just ate half a gallon too but it was a late night "snack" which eventually got outa control... I was stuffed before I ate and yet I couldn't stop myself. I consumed probably over 3000calories and I freaked out for a while not knowing what to do. I came to the conclusion that I'll just run it off tomorrow. Binging usually just motivates me to workout even harder. I actually managed to run over 30km the other day within 3 hours. Knowing that I'm not the only one going crazy over food always calms me down.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
