How do I keep my butt and boobs while losing weight?!

Quote  |  Reply

I am in the process of losing about 10 lbs or so. I am 5'2", starting weight around 130, currently at about 127. I love my boobs (32D, mostly due to the pill) and ass - I'm afraid they are going to disappear along with the fat! Any tips to hold on to my womanly parts? I've been trying to incorporate weights along with a mostly cardio fitness routine. I've also been mixing it up with some yoga and a step class. My goal weight is 120, which seems out of whack with many of the other "shorties" on this site, but I don't see how I could still feel curvy if I ever went under 120!

Losing a little weight from those areas is unevitable as far as I know. Since you aren't planning to lose a lot of weight, I think that you won't notice much of a change around there as you will other places.

Hi!  You can't spot lose and only lose from certain places, so there's no saying where you're going to lose from.  When I lost my weight, the boobs were one of the first things to go.  Everyone's different though!

For me, the boobs were the last to go. It wasn't until I was around 100lbs (at 5'5") that they finally went down to a 32C. My butt was long gone, though. It really depends on your body type. Try praying to the Diet Gods, and who knows, maybe they'll grant you a boon 8)

if you want to keep your curves, I would think that it may be better for you to do more weight training so that you tone up and maybe cut back a wee bit on the cardio, or even just do less intense cardio. That way you'll tighten up without losing a ton of curve

Unfortunately spot reduction is a myth.  You can build muscle to change physique but when you lose fat it's going to come off where it wants - determined by your body type/genetics.  I'm one of the unfortunate ones.  At 148# (5'6") I am a C-cup. When I lose to goal of 128# I am an AB. A couple of years ago I dropped to 118# and barely had enough to stuff in an A cup.  Oh well.

Good luck.

I am also 5'2" at about 130 lbs.  My butt and boobs always seem to stay in proportion to my body.  Hopefully the same will happen to you!

Damn! That is tiny! I'm jealous you kept your boobs!

Booty = strength training!

Pushups will help your pecs, but the loss of fat = loss of boobage.

I feel MUCH better at a higher weight than I do all skinny for this reason. At least I have some curves now :)

Oh, but what they don't tell you is that when you lose a lot of fat from anywhere on your body, that part tends to, er... sag. That, and you end up looking like a twig with melons ;(

you dont. boobs will disappear, believe me. there is no fighting it, you just have to weight the option- whats more important- looking great everywhere but the chest and feelinghealthy, or having nice sized boobs? i miss mine so much, but i comfort myself knowing that it is a small price to pay for a six pack.

your butt you can keep - you can ever make it bigger. i work out legs and glutes twice a week and have made some major improvements- i always wanted a booty and im just about there- try lunges with weights or squats- use the heaviest weight you can to really build your butt

Work out your pectoral muscles ("we must increase our bust," anyone?)

Overall, though, it depends on your body makeup and your genetics.  I know people are telling you that you'll inevitably lose your bust, but take it from the former anorexic -- not everyone loses their bust!  When my weight was down in the 90s, I went up from a 34C to a 34D; the second time I had a major eating disorder relapse, I went to a 34DDD, and stayed there after recovering to a healthy weight.

I do a lot of squats and other workouts that "build" and tone the ass. Google Beyonce or Jessica Biel workouts and there are a ton of suggestions for how they keep their booties while working out. Squats being a big one.

Man! I wish I had the melons!  petitoiseau is the first person I've known to keep her boobs all big & perky! I can't believe it!

I wear some serious bras now! Pecs help give the illusion of cleavege, but they aren't going to fill out those sacks of skin that previously held fat!

Yeah, I remember "we must increase our bust." It was regarding a SCAM because it's impossible to increase your bust by any method but implants!

That's crazy that you were anorexic and had big boobs. That must have looked freakish. My boobs went away to the point you could see a perfect outline of my chest wall. Equally freakish.

honestly, you can't.  it all depends on you.  for most women though, the boobs are first to go =(

Boobs: Trust me they won't go anywhere. I swear this is the #1 fear for girls when it comes to working out - especially lifting weights.

Butt: Squats and lunges. Trust me, I'll be jealous.

It's largely genetics... if you have D cup boobs at 130, they're not at all likely to disappear because you lose ten pounds.

wow! thanks for the input everyone! i'll just have to see what happens i guess. sounds like the majority is leaning towards boob loss. i think i'd be "lucky" to lose my ass :)

now i know why hollywood is so crazy about implants - ugh!
