calf measurements

Quote  |  Reply

I probably think more about my calves than my thighs, ever since I was about 14 I thought they were too big. I'm jealous of the women who can wear tall boots, and can even fit their jeans in them.

There's a thread for thighs, so thought I'd ask if anyone around 5'9 height would share their calf measurements :P

I'm 5'0" tall calves are 12-13 inches (varies depending on how much or little running I've been doing). I never do the "tuck the pants in the boots" look because I think it makes my short legs just look shorter.

But Google "extended calf boots" and you will find a wealth of online options.

I have read somewhere that your calves are the strongest muscles in your entire body (because they are constantly supporting your full body weight)... so don't get too upset if you have big ones! For example when I use those online body fat calculators, if I enter a higher number just for my calves alone, with all other measurements the same, it gives me a lower body fat percentage.

I'm 5'7", 147 (yay!), and a thin fram judging by wrist size, bf% is around 20%

 calf size: 17.5" (holy cow!!)

I'm gonna start the elliptical, dancing, and pilates to try and lengthen the muscles and make them look a bit sexier

I know you asked for the tall girls, but just to make you feel better:

I'm 5'0" and my calves are just over 14" around.  I am not overweight, and this is actually down about 1.5"!!!  I used to worry about them, but they're rock solid which is badass... I kind of like them now because they make my thighs look super skinny!

I am 5"10 and my calfs are extremely muscular, only because when I was 16 I started doing weight lifting wanted to compete etc. etc.  was really well built then bam had kids  and the rest is history... I try like  heck to loose inches of them but I doubt it will ever happen ...and they are 17 Left and 17.5 Right odd I know....

Cheers,

Barbara

Eddie Bauer used to have "wide calf" sizes as well.  J.jill had a few styles in season too.  Some of the career focused clothing lines carry them at the beginng of the winter . . . FYI  Yep, the regular boots, in larger calf sizing. . . They'll do, & no strange looking gosset.

I have two pair and like to wear them with long skirts to the office . . .

Last I looked mine were 17.5" I am 5'7"/8", I wear a pant size 16 I guess my calfs are amongst the biggest . . . . They didn't call me thunder thighs for nothing.  At their best when in shape they are nice looking though, if you like that strong, can run for miles, vice gripping, jaws of life look.

Oh I really, really wish I had slim calves.  I'd love to wear tall boots.  I do like ankle boots with jeans or dress pants.  I am 5'3", 196lbs and now wearing a size 14/16 but I have 17" calves.  There must be 15lbs sitting down there alone!  I have to say they are looking toned from all the exercise which is nice and they are down from 18+" now.  Maybe next winter says she who is down 50lbs now and 50 more to go.

wow im 6'1 and my calves are only like 11" at the widest part.

I'm 5'7" and my measurments are around 12 inches at the widest part of my calf muscle.

I love this thread - but I an not tall.  Still even at my thinnest I could not wear tall boots.  Now that I am a little heavier I dont even want to measure my calves.

Oh and knee socks - I can not wear those either!

I cant believe im about to post this. But im 5'9 and 360lbs :{ my calves are 21 inches at the widest part (whoa). but they have alot of muscle in them. my doctor was shocked when he did a physical because i have very litte fat on my calfs. but i walk a lot thats why i dont understand why im so big

Whats wrong with posting that Madison? Sometimes being heavier is just in the genes,  I wish i could gain some weight (im 6'1 120lbs) my calves are only 11 inches at the widest part and my thighs are only 17 inches. You can be heavier but still be healthy. That thing about the lose skin ive heard that happens if you lose weight quickly, but if you lose slower it gives the skin a chance to adjust.

Just the fact that they are 21 lol.  wow your super small, not to be rude or anything but isnt that considered underweight?  yeah i guess your right though im not super unhealthy i can atleast walk 2 miles without gettin winded.  Hmm hopefully i dont lose to fast.

My calves are 14.5 inches. Then again they are one of the most muscular parts of my body. My guy felt them one day and joked, "They're like frickin Arnold swartzennager's!" Lmao!

No your not being rude, but yeah im way underweight i should weigh about 165 -170.

My legs have always been my worst point! I weigh very little for my height but my legs/calves are still grossly disproportionate. I'm 5'7.5" and my calfs/calves are 14" at their widest, loosly measured. Ugh. And I do cardio too... :S
