Center for medical weight loss (CMWL)
I started the CMWL plan a week ago. I was wondering is anyone else is on or has tried this. I am looking for a buddy/ies to converse with . I have been on it a week and in the first week I lost 7 pounds. I consume 800 calories a day mostly in the form of shakes, do 30 minutes of cardio and meet with my Dr. once a week.
In the past I have never been a big fan super low calorie diets. Because usually once you lose the weight and start back to normal living you gain it right back. But, this seems a little different. It is through my regular Dr. who has been my Dr for years and I trust. During the one day a week meeting we sit down and tackle the habits had contributed to me being overweight, and ways to overcome those opsticles when I do start eating again.
I'm doing it too. I've lost 10 lbs in the past two weeks. It flies in the face of everything I've learned on Calorie Count. But I was desperate to get to a more manageable place. Where I didn't get discouraged by the sheer enormity of how much I wanted to lose and give up. I would be happy to be your CMWL buddy!
I am in the maintenance like program. I am currently trying to do 1200 calories a day. I did the 800 calories for close to two months. From January to May I lost a total of 30 pounds. Since May it has been a really slow process. I really enjoyed doing it. Once summer is over I will probably start up again. If you have any questions I will do my best to help. I am no expert but I did do it for a couple of months.
I didn't even notice the date of your original post! I just did a search and you came up in the forums. I am encouraged by reading your story. I've worked really hard since my second child and often got frustrated because I would work out doing something intense (ie Insanity workouts, or spin class) and never felt like I was getting the results I wanted. I knew there was lean muscle hiding under that big layer of fat--and now that I'm doing CMWL, it's starting to be revealed which I am super excited about!
I added you to my list of friends, and if I have any questions I will ask. Right now, it's just the shakes and bars which is pretty mindless. Later it might require some more thought. I lost my job the day I started it, and I had already paid for it, so it's really been kind of a motivator for me to stick to it since it's so expensive, and I really want to get the most "bang for my buck", you know? Not to mention, I have time to work out and such.
Thanks for your response. Good luck in your journey!
Sorry to hear about the job loss. I am about at he halfway mark to my goal. I started at 204.5 which was my "official first weigh-in. As of last week I was at 169. I have about 30 more pounds to loose. This summer has been really hectic on my weight loss, but I am not giving up. It seems now that I am at the halfway mark my weight loss is moving at a snails pace. If I can just maintain this summer and pick backup in the fall I will be happy. My husband and I do a lot of events throughout the week that is not the best environment for trying to loose weight.
I am just trying to do my best by doing a lot of cardio and spinning classes.
