So its that time.  I need to go threw my closet and get rid of the stuff that doesn't fit.  I am excited that I am at a point to do this but I am also unsure.  I feel like it might be a jinx and I am jumping the gun on this point.  I know some of the stuff I have been wearing looks RIDICULOUS. My assistant manager, and friend, has even banned me from wearing a few tops ever again.

Thankfully I don't need to go shopping since I didn't get rid of anything as it became too tight but now I also don't want to get rid of anything that's too big because "I might need again one day".  (That's what I am telling myself.)  The last time I lost a lot of weight I got rid of all the big stuff and the cried when I had nothing that fit and no money to go out and buy new.  (unfortunately that didn't stop me from eating)

Has anyone else been here?  I am just not sure how to deal with my mixed feeling of excitement and being unsure.

I am absolutely confident that I will never need my 24W clothes again.

But, I compromised by putting them all in a box in the guest room.  It was important to get them out of my closet, but I wanted to give it some time before the good ones went to the Salvation Army.  The junk on the other hand (worn out, hated it anyway, never fit right at any weight) went straight to the garbage or charity.

Have fun!

I just did this the other day!  It felt good to pull them out and even try some on. Some I gave to my mom, others I put in a bag to put in storage (worried about jinxing too:P) or donate.

Now I can go in my closet and pull out something that fits.  I don't have to dig or hunt.  It was also really inspirational to try some on that I bought when I was bigger for when I lost weight and even those were too big!  Of course, now my closet looks a little empty...

2 yrs ago i was weighing 298lbs and i lost 60 lbs and I had all these really really big dresses, 2 weeks ago I pulled them out of the closet and I cut them into squares and made a quilt for my bed ,,,it reminds me everyday how much weight ive lost,,

I like this idea^.

I always remember what I was wearing for big events, so this would be like a memory quilt and a big reminder not to eat so much cake!

Yes I have been there....I went from 210 to 140 lbs....what I did was box all my stuff (actually I used the space bags) that was too big and then put them out of sight in the attic...my goal at the time was if I didnt gain any weight after a year then I would give the clothes to goodwill....I kept the weight off for a year...and I gave it to goodwill.

suddenly I have a lot of empty hangers and almost nothing to wear....:-)

Smile Time to fill those hangers up again! Enjoy your shopping trip.

Hint:  If you're at an in-between weight (i.e. not at your goal weight), try shopping at second-hand and discount stores just for a few essentials to get you through the transition period.

I am going through the same exact thing. My issue is not that I feel I will need them again it is the fact that those clothes cost money. Also, I do not have a lot of extra money to spend on new clothing to replace what I am donating to The Salvation Army (name drop). BUT I am purging my closet anyway. The clothing items that I know look completely ridiculous and that I know I will never wear again are going in the DONATE bag!

I have made a vow with myself that every pay day I am going to purchase 1 item to rebuild my wardrobe. Even if it is a $6 dollar shirt here and there. Eventually, out with the old; in with the new!

I went thru my closet the other day and did just this.  I gave the piles to a friend who wants to lose weight but isn't, for now.

I told my husband just this morning, "It's pretty cool to think that a year from now I will have a completely different wardrobe." Money mouth

Well I just moved everything from the spare room closet to my closet (all my closest are organized by size). Anyway and I am trying stuff on and it looks tight! IT's really not I am just used to wearing my old 5x's when I am now down to a 2 or 3 x depending on the company.  *sigh* Its amazing how the mind messes with you.

Off to find something for work tomorrow that I am comfortable in.

Pam
