Cold water in the morning = weight loss???

Quote  |  Reply

Well i recently heard that drinking a cold glass of water in the morning will help in burning calories. Supposedly the cold water lowers body temperature...and forces your body to build it back up...and since you were sleeping and havnt eatn in a while it burns stored up fat or potentially stored up fat?

idk...it believeable?

any opinions?

I heard about this one too..and although not sure about it..I still adopted it as a habit...now I have a cold glass of water every morning...dunno if it  helps in burning calories...but it does makes me feel good.....and makes me want to keep drinkin' water during the day...

Initially I heard, and then experimented and succeeded in losing weight this way. However, what I heard was about a glass of hot water in the early hours of the morning, without having anything before it, along with a teaspoon full of honey and a teaspoon full of lime juice, helps in losing weight faster. The reason being, hot water enters your system and works its way through the bowl melting with it the fat layers that pile up on the innermost skin of the stomach and the intestines. Alongside this the lime juice with a dash of honey help in the improvement of the skin, keeping it intact even after losing weight. Lime juice has a lot of calcium in it which is obviously helpful. The reason to add the honey is to reduce the sour flavor and make it drinkable. Honey can be a good substitute to sugar because it has low content of glucose in it.

Based on personal experience I can tell that this works. I have used it for the past 3 months and I have lost almost 10 Kilo grams worth of weight.

Hope this helps. Chao.

wow.

ive never heard that...but im definatly trying it.

thankyou. =]

A healthy body's core temperature (as in when the doctor pops a thermometer in your mouth) is 98.6F... 37C...   A drink, hot or cold, is going to make no difference to that.  It will not melt or solidify fat in the stomach or intestines.  The stomach contents and intestines are already at 98.6F or 37C... and they are not lined with layers of fat.  Think how quickly a pat of butter would melt if left outside on a summer's day that temperature....

A warm drink (with lime and honey if you like) is a pleasant way to start the morning and is gentle on the digestion.  Nothing more or less.   If someone has lost weight it has been because they've eaten less and exercised more...

I have seen the research on this and it is true...but it's a very tini-tiny amount of calories. Like 5 calories burned from an 8 ounce glass of ice water. I'll see if I can find a link...

Ah, here's one:

Why are you trying to lose weight?  At 5'2" and 98lbs you're either in the perfect weight range or needing to gain weight.

I believe this is the strangest weight loss thing I have ever heard.........and I read a lot.  Just how hot is this water?  I am sorry but this is just too bizarre  to accept.  Try pouring a cup of hot water over a piece of meat fat, even have it boiling and see what happens...........nothing!  I don't mean to be too harsh but folks we need to stick to something that is logical and melting our fat just doesn't cut it!  Can you imagine what the temperature of a cup of hot water is by the time it gets to your stomach, where the fat isn't by the way!  That hot water will never touch your fat and wouldn't help if it did.  WOW that concept really knocked me for a loop.  Sorry!

Having hot water with a slice of lemon in the morning before breakfast keeps my BM's regular and it is supposed to help keep your skin clear. I find that it helps with the digestion of my breakfast afterwards too as I'm prone to stomach aches after breakfast if I skip the tea.

Having a pint of water/cup of tea in the morning is also great to rehydrate your body after sleeping.

This all sounds good to me, but it is not melting fat!
