Confused

Hi,  Just wondered if I'm doing this right. I am supposed to be eating 1200 calories a day according to the information I added. When I have exercised and say I've burned 300 calories in a day, am I supposed to be able to eat that much more(which would work out to 1500/day)? This is what I've been doing and I have only lost 12 lbs in 2 months and it seems to have really slowed down. Thanks for any and all thoughts!

Need more info, stats: height, weight, sex, age, activity level, goal weight.

The site picks 1200 usually if you pick an aggressive date or a high amount with an aggressive date, or if you very short, older and very inactive. 2lbs a week is suppose to be more for those in overweight/obese ranges, when in a healthy BMI 0.5-1lbs is ideal.

Thank you for that info. I am a 54 yr. old woman, 5ft. 4 in and started at a weight of 192, so I was obese. 140 is my goal weight, 40 more to go.  I would say I walk 3 or 4 days a week and the rest of the time regular work, like gardening ect. Should I be adding those calories from exercise to my 1200/day? Thanks!

I also want to ask if anyone else sometimes  feels weak and gets the shakes after they eat. If I eat something sweet it doesn't happen and my Dr. told me to eat a carb and a protein together. Eggs effect me the most. Could it mean that my body isn't metabolizing the food fast enough?

Definitely eat more.

Your BMR is 1458, do not eat below this.

For weight loss with little to no exercise: 1536

For weight loss and exercise 3 days a week: 1603

For weight loss and exercise 5 days a week: 1706

For weight loss and exercise daily: 1910

For weight loss and exercise 5 days a week (intense):  1808

Site I use: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calc ulator.htm

Or if you are going my CC try for 500-1000 daily deficits (but try to eat at least your BMR as daily calorie intake), if you have a hard time with this because losing about 50lbs will take time (I myself am trying for 50lbs lost in 10 months about 5-10lbs away and a month and a half left), try for more like 300-500 deficits, so you don't feel so restricted.

Wow! Good for you!! Thank you, for that info, hope I still loose at at 258 more calories/day. I have always eaten much less than the rest of my familly and still weighed more. I know it will take awhile but I also know I will have to watch for the rest of my life.

Yes and I was at a similar start weight 190-185, I did even fall off the wagon then maintained during holidays and started up again. I think if you make it 1/2 way without going crazy killing yourself, you can save that for the last 1/2 :P ;)

hollowness,  I like that calculator.  It tells me that what my goal daily intake is (1800), is actually exactly right.  Before when I lost and again now, I aimed for that for a couple reasons, one of which is that it seems like the right amount and that's my end amount to maintain.  But neat seeing it broken down that way.

What did confuse me, as I put lower weights (and by lower, it's still way outside a healthy BMI), it says that it's too low for extreme fat loss.  It also says that fat loss is 13 calories lower than my BMI.  That isn't making sense.

If someone is very overweight or in a healthy range that doesn't allow for extreme weight loss (which I don't recommend, I think it should only be used, if even used, for a temporary intake maybe to get out of a plateau), no it doesn't have extreme available. I believe this is a safe guard.  As for the below BMR, yes this site does allow for it but most people recommend against& nbsp;it (but I figure -100 or less of a difference isn't too extreme but eat your BMR is a good rule/guideline for health in mind).
