Costco Muffins?

Quote  |  Reply
Does anyone know the calorie content of a Costco Muffin?  I am beginning to beleive it is a great mystery.  I talked to the people who bake them, they told me to call the 1800 #.  No one answers theres just an automated system.  Then they told me to go online, again I cannot find it.  C-C does not list it, someone please help!! Thanx, Dawn

It turns out Costco has done a complete analysis of its product, and with a little prodding over the telephone a company representative was willing to give me some details. A Costco blueberry muffin, it seems, contains 32 grams of fat, 71 grams of carbohydrates and has a total of 610 calories. The almond poppy seed variety contains 670 calories per muffin, and the chocolate chip tops the scales with 690 calories and 38 grams of fat. As far as I can tell, the number for Sam‚??s Club muffins should be similar. So much for a light breakfast. The muffin holds about 40 percent of the calories from fat recommended by the USDA for a 2,000 calorie diet. Formulated for shelf life and crumb-free consumption, muffin nutrition falls by the wayside. According to my rough calculations, two eggs and toast, with butter, have fewer calories than one Costco double chocolate muffin. And if you really crave chocolate treats, you can make your own Heavenly Chocolate Cupcakes for about 335 calories each. These ‚??muffins,‚?Ě from the Williams Sonoma ‚??Chocolate‚?Ě cookbook, are richer and tastier and still have fewer calories than the Costco variety.

Here's the link half way down the page, hope this helps

I love the almond poppyseed muffins, but when I found out how high fat they were, I thought I'd have to give them up permanently.  (I still want to make my own and replace some of the oil with applesauce for part of the moisture.)

I'm trying to keep my fat calories well below 30% of my total calories, but it's not easy.  And those muffins certainly don't help!

But what I do if I *do* get one (package!), is cut it (them) into thirds or halves and put the pieces away in the freezer in individual snack-size ziplocs.  And when I have a hankerin' for one - and have room in my eating plan that day for the fat content - I eat just one third or one half.  That's only about 225 calories, which isn't unreasonable for a mid-morning snack or after-dinner dessert.  (It *is* better to eat them earlier in the day than late - lesser of two evils anyway.)
the place where I work, we only have lowfat yogurt muffins and fat free sugar free muffins... two different kinds... LOL if anyone wants some, I'll send them to you... hehehe I try not to eat them alot, but sometimes i'll have a quarter of one with my daughter, (she eats the rest, with my dog)... the sugar free fat free ones are only like 150 cals at the most... and the lowfat yogurt ones are only around 300.... We have soooo many different kinds too, especially the almond poppy.... I try not to trust muffins though that I have no idea how many calories are in them.... I remember reading an article in the popular science magazine about how the serving size of a muffin from the 1990's to now have at least tripled in size...Muffins are huge now in our supersized world... Our muffins are huge too, but not so bad on the waistband.

Calories in the Costco Chocolate muffin is 650 calories and the blueberry is 612 calories.

Anything you want to know regarding anything, just type in the  words in google: Ex: How many calories in Costco blueberry muffin,  how many caloreis do I need to eat to maintain my weight, etc. etc.   All the answers are on the internet.  Hope this helps you,

I don't know but I know it's ridiculous : ) In fact my daughters school does Muffins for Moms with the luscious costco muffins...this years was just this past Thursday. I offered my daughter to trade supervising a field trip for attending because my butt so doesn't need those muffins. Thankfully she agreed.
