Just Dance for wii and weight loss

I know Im a late bloomer when it comes to video games but I just got Just Dance for the wii on Wednesday. I started using it for an hour every day and have lost 5.6 pounds in the first week. Just wanted to know if anyone else uses anything of the sort for a cardio workout and if it continues to work over time.

It sure sounds like it's working for you! Congrats on the weight loss.  I've thought about getting it - but I wondered if I would get tired of the same old songs. Or does it have enough of a variety to keep you interested?

I've got 'My Fitness Trainer' for the Wii, which I enjoy because it gets me using the exercise equipment that I've had lying around unused for years. There is a choice of music styles and each time you play the routine is varied, plus the trainer introduces new exercises. They are the same exercises that I do with my aerobics class so I know that it is a 'real' workout. I've lost 20 lbs since July and it's staying off, so I think the effects are lasting as long as the motivation keeps up!

Just dance has 30 songs on it and Just Dance 2 has 45 songs. I havent gotten tired of them yet but I just try to get better at the moves and get better scores each time.

I'm in the process of moving and haven't used Just Dance in about a month but when I did use it I lost weight.  It's a fun way to get some cardio into your daily routine! 

You may not loose as much weight as you did your first week but any cardio is good cardio so using Just Dance on a regular basis is a great idea!  

We just got a Wii for our Christmas present - will try out the Just Dance - sounds great.

I love my wii and the wii fit programs definitely helped to kick start my exercise program (couch to moving again!).

I haven't got the "Just Dance" but it does sound fun. IMO if you are enjoying it, then you are more likely to continue to exercise...to keep seeing good results periodically increase intensity or duration and keep at it!

Every Kinect game I've played is extremely aerobic and a great work out.  Many of the activities work muscles you wouldn't normally use in typical workouts.  On top of it all the games are super fun.  Definitely worth picking up if you like games, exercising, or having fun.

Hi I am also a late bloomer lol I just got the game last week I am starting tomorrow to see what happens it looks like fun I love the music we just have to see if it works for me. I am happy it worked for you.

I'm so pleased it worked for you. I started with it but didn't stick with it but now that I heard what it has done for you I will definatly be doing it every day!

Another good game for the wii (I just got it for christmas) is CyberBike by BigBen. It's fun especialy for these cold and rainy winter day. I comes with a bike and game.

Hi Jen I have been using the Wii Just Dance 2 for 12 weeks now and i have lost 11 kilo's (with a healthy diet of course)  but yes it certainly does the trick :) especially do the hard fast and hard songs and really put the energy into it.  I usually do at least 9 songs which takes me over the hour mark.

I have also added crunches on the fit ball and push ups after dancing.  Keep it up and you too will see results :)

I have a wii but have not been using it. I've started using my treadmill for about 30 minutes a day and I'm trying to use the xbox connect with my daughter for about 30 minutes a day. 

I haven't been doing it long enough to know if there is a difference but I can say with just casual use the xbox is more of a workout then the wii. The wii can be a workout but it doesn't acknowledge legs and such like the xbox :)

Anyone who has a XBoX 360 kinect if you like to dance and you want a good fitness game, Dance Central 2-3 is by far the best and funnest game. It's better than Zumba kinect in my opinion. Specially when you get to medium-hard level, it's a huge workout
I have just dance 3. I love using it because it make me sweat and make for a great workout. Doing just dance do not seem like exercising. So when I am at home being lazy I get up and get to moving. I also use the elliptical, and I have consistently lost weight over the last 12 weeks.
