It'll be a longer thread if you ask what doesn't work!! Smile The world is full of desperate, overweight people and unscrupulous snake-oil peddlars willing to take advantage of them and part them from their cash.   The 'placebo effect' is a strong one, of course.  Pay good money for something and you'll convince yourself it's working.  But if they really worked (and even the ones your doctor can prescribe are of limited effect) there would be no obesity.

Simple solution to weight-control... eat better, eat less and get moving.

i second the notion

Thirded.

fourthed.

diet pills= badness

eating right and working out= win.

Drinking lots of water.

Stacker 2 w/ ephedra worked well for me, but they lost their effectiveness after a while.  It's not something that's sustainable.  Not to mention that pills w/ ephedra are now stupidly expensive.

What works for me, if I begin feeling hungry, I try drinking more water because it seems to help.  If it doesn't help, I look at what I'm eating and focus on eating more protien.  I'm diabetic, I've lost over 150 lbs, so I'd say that these two methods have worked for me.  Protien keeps me satisfied, and fuller longer.  If I'm still craving to munch on something or feeling down or depressed, I go out and make myself exercise because it raises the feel good hormones, burns calories, tones, etc.  I turn it into beneficial time and I find my hunger goes away, or if I do munch I burnt calories so I do not feel guilty.

My protien sources are turkey, chicken, fish, tofu, soy, and I use a shake mix called Jarrow Glycemic Balance.  I stay away from pills because they wreak havoc on my system.  Good luck on your search.  T

Well I was recently dianosed with adult ADD and was put on Adderall. WOW. Talk about an appetite supressant! It COMPLETELY takes away your appetite. Food sounds totally unappetizing when I take it. I have to FORCE myself to eat even a few bites of chicken.

Now, obviously you shouldn't take it without doctor's orders. But, just saying, it definitely makes you eat less.

Yeah appetite suppression can often be a side-effect of precription pills ...I started taking oxytetracyclene for my acne and didn't eat anything for nearly two days without realising.

But this is bad, obviously.

Yep. I went an entire day without eating and then the next day I only had a Starbucks drink! YIKES! Like I said though, I force myself to eat now!

I really struggle to lose weight - have done for years. However, the doctor gave me sibutramine and it has really suppressed my appetite - i still eat though - but food is no longer at the front of my mind
