In dire need of assistance

Quote  |  Reply

Hello all, this is my first post here and while being a distant watcher of the forums (having never been a member) i must say this is a great community! However im curious if any of you can help me.

To make a long story short i started off around 247lbs and got down to 129lbs. I was elated and felt great! However ever since christmas i have been spiralling out of control. And when i say out of control i do mean radically. Having never been a binge eater i now find myself doing just that. And i dont mean like the binge eating posts i have read here where pepole eat 2/3 servings of chicken i mean a real all out binge. For instance last night i ate:

2 chicken patties

1 chicken breast

2 servings of hashbrown casserole

frozen mango chunks

5 pop tarts

4 muffins

three apples with peanut butter

a 24 oz bag of trail mix

2 bags of chex mix.

and the list goes on. I cant control myself, i have read that this is due to my over restrictive diet. However i cant for the life of me stop myself. I eat so much i wind up vomiting (no not forced vomiting). I dont know what to do. I have been fat my whole life, but i have never eaten like this until recently.

I was considering taking a break from the diet for the next 3 days or so in an attempt to get this out of my system, but i dont know if thats just me being week and looking for a way to allow myself all these horrible indulgences or if its a good idea at all. But what im doing now, starting the diet up on monday, tuesday failing to stay on track, binging, being depressed and starting over on wednesday only to do this all over again on thursday seems to be killing me.

So any advice? Anyone been here before or am i just completely messed up lol?

Hello,

Try to calm down, I think the more you beat yourself up about it the worse it will get.  Everyone falls off the wagon, the trick is not to believe it is the end of the world (and your diet) and just keep eating.  How restrictive was your diet?  Were you getting enough calories?  Do you start eating because you are hungry or bored?  or feeling bad?  Did you allow yourself treats / cheat meals?

How about increasing your calories slightly and allowing yourself one thing you really like every day or so for a while until you are feeling stronger and ready to keep going.  If you are not restricting the things you want you may find you don't want them as much anymore.  Also, what exercise are you doing?  you could increase this to counteract some of the calories and reduce your stress.

Hope this helps.

1) go to your doctor and tell them this is happening right now. pick up the phone and call.

2) don't try to lose weight, try to stabilize yourself first. Don't count calories and eat ever 3 or 4 hours.

3) front end load more food in the morning and foods that have good natural fats - eggs, avocado, olive oil, coconut oil (or coconut). This will help your brain chemistry and hormonal responses later in the day.

4) go to your doctor!

Go to your doctor asap!

I think you should make an appt with your doctor, and start throwing out some of the food in your house.  Throw all of the junk food in the garbage and pour bleach on it.  In the short term, you can't binge on food that's not there.

How tall are you and how much were you eating to lose?

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
